Re-initialize for Mac and Windows
Re-Initialize/ Format Device Re-initialization is not required for setup. You may re-initialize the Lockbox Rugged if the password is lost or forgotten. [!] Caution: Renitializing and Formatting erases everything on the storage device. Silicon Forensics highly recommends that you backup all data on your storage device before performing the steps below. Silicon Forensics is not responsible for any data lost due to formatting, partitioning, or using a SiForce storage device. To re-initialize follow these steps: 1. Unplug the USB cable and hold the “1” key and "3" key simultaneously while re-inserting the USB cable into the computer’s USB port. 2. Hold the “#” key until the RED, GREEN, and ORANGE LEDs light up. 3. Enter current (PIN) number and press “⏎.” 4. RED and GREEN LEDs will light up when password (PIN) number is entered successfully. 5. Enter a new (PIN) number that is 4-32 digits and press “⏎.” 6. The BLUE LED will flash three times. 7. Re-enter new (PIN) number and press “⏎.” 8. BLUE LED should flash for a few seconds and the RED LED should turn off. 9. If successful, both GREEN and BLUE LEDs will light up. 10. If unsuccessful, repeat steps (1) through (9). 11. After re-initialization, the device will need to be formatted in either NTFS (Windows users) or exFAT (Mac or Windows users). NTFS: Since it is the native file system for Windows, volumes created in NTFS can read and write with computers running Windows. exFAT: Generally compatible with Mac and Windows. exFAT is not a journaled file system, which means it can be more susceptible to data corruption when errors occur or the drive is not disconnected properly from the computer.
