MEAT

A butcher and a butchery, both look perfectly normal. The delivery arrives in the morning,

the butcher prepares the meat as it should be. Not many clients though. It's more like his

fantasy world, his asylum, here he can live out his sexual fantasies, here he can play out his

dark side and forget about the miserable life he has. There is Roxy, the young girl in the

butchery. She's videoing everything as part of her search for answers, her limits, her life. And

the butcher gets into her head, she gets into his.

There is the inspector. A man with a miserable life at a point where he doesn't want to prove

or improve anything anymore. Not much different than the butcher. A bit bigger, but they're

sharing the same face. Then the inspector, investigating the mysterious death of the butcher

after it happened or maybe while it happens, gets involved with Roxy.

It seems that there is only one solution for the puzzle: recreate the death of the butcher.

FILMMAKERS

VICTOR NIEUWENHUIJS studied Politics at the University of Amsterdam, then painting and

photography at the Ateliers ‘63 and film at the Free Academy in The Hague with Dutch

experimental filmmaker Frans Zwartjes.

MAARTJE SEYFERTH studied acting and directing at the Theaterschools of Antwerp and

Amsterdam. She played in avant-garde, trendsetting plays, then she studied painting at the

Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.

In 1986 Victor Nieuwenhuijs and Maartje Seyferth decided to co-operate as filmmakers and

founded MOSKITO FILM to produce their films (www.moskitofilm.com). Their films are now

part of the collection of the Dutch Film Museum.

In 2008 they founded Plexus Film Productions in Rotterdam.

Plexus co-produced "Crepuscule" in 2009 and "Meat" in 2010. Both films premiered at the

International Film Festival Rotterdam.

So far, Maartje Seyferth and Victor Nieuwenhuijs directed and produced 4 feature films:

Cat and Mouse (working title), which is now in pre-production and will be shot in 2011.

Plaisir et Tristesse de l'Amour, is now in development and will be shot in 2012.

Titus Muizelaar / butcher - inspector

Well-known Dutch actor Titus Muizelaar plays again the main role in a Maartje

Seyferth/Victor Nieuwenhuijs film. He first appeared in their feature "LULU" (2005) as the

male lead, Leon Mortier. Then in 2009 he had an appearance in "CREPUSCULE" (2009) which

had its worldpremiere at IFFR 2009. In "MEAT (2010) he plays a double role: two tragic

characters, both the butcher and the

inspector.

Nellie Benner / Roxy

Also Nellie Benner appeared earlier in a Maartje Seyferth/Victor Nieuwenhuijs film:

"CREPUSCULE" (worldpremiere IFFR 2009). She plays in an impressive way the main and sole

character of a nameless young girl’s slow and lingering journey from the daylight of sanity to

the darkness of madness. Nellie Benner studied at "faaam" (film actors academy

Amsterdam), where she was discovered by Maartje Seyferth and Victor Nieuwenhuijs.

She has a leading role in the TV-series "Tien Torens Ver", which is running on Dutch TV, since

january 24, 2010.

Kitty Courbois / Mother Famous Dutch actress Kitty Courbois plays in a short appearance the disabled mother of the

inspector. She played in many theaterplays, features and TV series.

Wilma Bakker / Tinie In the role of the promiscuous, but loving wife of the butcher.

In the role of the promiscuous, but loving wife of the butcher.

Since 1990 she has played many leading parts in musicals and TV productions (Les

Miserables, Chorus Line, Sunset Boulevard). Wilma Bakker, better known as "La Sirene",

specialised in singing and performing a sensual, international repertoire.

Her next production will be "La Dietrich" inspired by the life of Marlene Dietrich.

Gurkan Gucuksenturk / Mo In the role of the lover of Roxy, who's only interest seems to fulfil some obscure political

aim. Gurkan played in many thetaerplays and features.
