TRAINING WORKSHOP ON “EXAM MCQs FORMATION”
Riphah College of Rehabilitation and Allied Health sciences conducted a workshop for faculty
training on 16th
april 2019 at G7/4 campus Islamabad. The topic of this training session was
“Exam MCQs Formation”. Resource person for this workshop was respected Dean FRAHS Prof.
Dr. Asghar Khan. The whole faculty of physical therapy and speech & language pathology
department attended the workshop.

STUDY CIRCLE (RCRS BOYS CAMPUS)
The study circle was commenced on April 30, 2019 under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Affan Iqbal. Respected Mufti Muhammad Aftab sb. conducted this circle with
Arabic recitation, translation and tafseer of 2nd
Rukoo of Surah Hujrat of Quran. This was
followed by discussion between participants on how to incorporate Quranic teachings into our
practical life. All male faculty members participated in this study circle.
The Study Circle was concluded with dua by Mufti Muhammad Aftab sb.
TARBIYAH ACTIVITIES (RCRS BOYS)
Tarbiyah Sessions were planned and conducted under the supervision of Respected Associate
Dean Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Sajjad & Dr Iqbal Tariq (In-charge Tarbiyah RCRS-Boys). These
sessions were conducted fortnightly for half an hour for each session. Training sessions were
conducted in DPT Lecture Hall G7/4 Campus Riphah. Class teachers Dr. Affan Iqbal, Dr.
Danish Latif, Dr. Laiq, Dr. Faheem Afzal, Dr. Syed Ali,Dr. LalGul Khan, Dr Umer Iqbal, Dr.
Mir Arif, Dr. Waqar Ahmed and Dr. Iqbal Tariq of Dpt 1st semester to 10
th conducted one
session for their respective class. The session were well attended with almost full participants.
The Mentoring Sessions covered the objective of Belief system; Introduction to the Riphah
mission and why Riphah had included a mentoring program among the Faculty and Students.
After this, teachers highlighted the importance of developing a sense of purpose in the students at
Riphah. After the introduction of Mentor and mentee (students) including name, family, place of
living and their interests/hobbies, a brief presentation on Riphah Mission, vision and purpose
which briefly led the audience through a journey of the heart from disbelief and denial to belief
(Iman) and surrender.
TRAINING SESSION ON “INTEGRATION OF PATIENT
SAFETY ONLINE COURSE INTO UNDERGRAD SYLLABUS”
A training session was a continuation of faculty training on Patient safety online course. It was
organized by Faculty of Rehabilitation and Allied Health Sciences (FRAHS) and was conducted
on April 09, 2019 from 02:00pm to 04:00pm. The facilitator for this workshop was respected
Director Riphah Institute of Healthcare Improvement and Safety (RIHIS) Prof. Dr. Matiur
Rahman. The purpose of this training session was to train RCR&AHS faculty on how to
integrate Patient Safety short courses into undergrad syllabus and to train students on IHI‟s
platform. This session was attended by all the faculty members of FRAHS. Associate Prof. Dr.
Abdul Ghafoor Sajjad started the session with list of different short courses being inducted into
DPT syllabus at different semester levels. Following this, Prof. Dr. Matiur Rahman provided his
insight towards different strategies to successfully carryout these short courses in undergrad
classes. Moreover, at the end of this session all faculty members were provided with new access
codes for IHI platform.
03 DAY BACK PAIN CAMP
A 03 day special camp for low back pain specially the disc protrusion/Herniation patients was
organized in Max Physical Therapy & Decompression Center from 31st March to 2nd April
2019. During this camp Dr. Sawaid Abbas (Orthopedic surgeon), Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Sajjad
(Orthopedic Manual PT), Dr. Mir Arif Hussain (Neuro-Rehab specialist), and Dr. Fatima Baig
(Yoga and Fitness expert) provided the services to patients/clients.
During this camp, a total of 54 patients were treated. The consultation and treatment of 1st
session were free of cost. The patients were treated with Spinal Mobilization, Spinal
Manipulation, Spinal Adjustment, Posture correction, Special Spinal Exercise like ELDOA,
Decompression, Spinal Traction, Dry Needling, Kinesiotaping, Interferential Current therapy and
LASER.
BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) TRAINING WORKSHOP
BY RESCUE 1122 (RCRS BOYS CAMPUS)
A training session was arranged on April 10, 2019 for RCRS boys‟ campus students to train
them the concept of Basic Life Support and how to respond during emergency situations. This
session was conducted with help of Punjab Rescue Dept. 1122. A total of 50 students
participated in this session and received hands on training from RESCUE 1122 instructors.
ANNUAL SPORTS GALA 2019 (RCRAHS BOYS CAMPUS)
Riphah College of Rehabilitation and Allied Health Sciences (Boys campus) actively
participated in the “Inter-faculty Sports Gala” that was being organized by Student Services
Department from April 2, 2019 to April 4, 2019.
It was a well organized and well planned event which consisted of six major sports; Cricket,
Football, Volley-ball, Basket-ball, Badminton, and Table Tennis. RCRAHS students
participated in all the sports except football. The schedule of the matches was not provided
timely; therefore football team was unable to participate in the matches. Players were also
provided refreshments at half-time of the matches or around 01:00pm.

RCRAHS provided Sports Physical Therapy services during the contests. The Physiotherapy
team was led by Dr. Noman Sadiq that consisted of four students from 10th semester. The

ANNUAL SPORTS GALA 2019 (RCRAHS GIRLS CAMPUS)
Student services department organized “Riphah Interfaculty Sports Competition” at Liaquat
Bagh Sports complex from 2nd to 5th
April, 2019. DPT girls participated in badminton and table
tennis and were declared as winners in badminton.
SEMINAR AND SKIT COMPETITION BY APRC
A seminar and inter-university skit competition was recently organized by Fatima Jinnah Women
University (FJWU) in collaboration with Alzheimer‟s Pakistan Rawalpindi Chapter (APRC).
The event was based on the theme: „Alzheimer‟s disease and related disorders‟ and the motive
was to raise awareness regarding this disease. Multiple universities across Rawalpindi
participated in the event. 17 Girls from DPT 8th semester also performed a skit and got
certificates for participation in the competition.
STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM (TRIP TO LAHORE) –
GIRLS CAMPUS
Student‟s trip to Lahore was arranged for girls of DPT 9th under the student exchange program
on 12th April, 2019. 26 students and 4 faculty members including Dr. Maria Khalid, Ms. Sania
Khawar Kiyani, Dr. Amna Yaseen and Dr. Shafaq visited Lahore campus. A comprehensive and
informative lecture on “Sacroilliac Joint Dysfunction” by Dr. Saima (HOD DPT girls) was
arranged for the students to enhance their knowledge.
REHAB TALK ON FM 102.2
1. Associate Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Sajjad was a guest speaker in FM 102.2 show „Rehab
Talk‟ on April 11, 2019. He gave a detailed description of Disc related back pain and
factors associated with its abnormalities especially age related changes and postural
abnormalities. He also highlighted different options of treatment for managing such
conditions. Moreover, listeners also received some useful tips for the prevention and
management of back pain.
2. Dr. Sumaiyah Obaid talked about cardiac rehabilitation on Riphah fm 102.2 in the
program named „Rehab talk‟ on 18th
April 2019. She shared very important information
regarding rehabilitation of post surgical cardiac patients and guided about life style
modification and exercise therapy in cardiac patients.
3. Dr. Suman Sheraz discussed Asthma in “Rehab talk” on Riphah fm 102.2 on 25th
April
2019. She discussed the triggers, symptoms, diagnosis and physical therapy management
of asthma in a brief and concise manner. She also impressively elaborated the breathing
exercises that an asthmatic patient should perform in order to improve his quality of life.
TRAINING SESSION ON
INFORATION SERVICES DEPT. RESOURCES AND SERVICES
Information Literacy Session for the students of RCRS - DPT 1st Semester (Male) Batch B was
conducted by Mr. Muhammad Yasir Iqbal (Information Officer) on 04-04-2019 at Islamabad
City Campus (G-7 ISB.). Objectives of this session were:
To introduce Information Services Department
To aware participants about library services and resources
To familiarize users with reading material available print/digital formats in Riphah
Libraries
To promote reading habits among students
WORKSHOP ON MUSCULOSKELETAL ULTRASOUND
A two days comprehensive training on clinical musculoskeletal ultrasound was held on April
19 and 11, 2019 at Max Rehab & Physical Therapy Centre, Islamabad. The training was
organized by Max Rehab & Physical Therapy Centre. The resource person for this workshop
was Raja Muhammad Ali PT (MCSP, PT) who is a chartered physiotherapist and certified
musculoskeletal sonographer from UK.
The first day activities were based on the Physics of Ultrasound, The Knobology,
Terminology of Ultrasound and Sono-Anatomy of Upper and Lower Limb soft tissues. The
second day activities were more focused on clinical conditions like Tendon Rupture, Bursitis,
and Tendonitis etc. This training was novel to all the participants. Raja Muhammad Ali (PT)
emphasized on hands on training throughout the training. He demonstrated practically how to
scan and differentiate different soft tissues under Ultrasound. Pearls and pitfalls were also
discussed. It was a very interactive session and all the participants performed
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Scans under his guidance.
SLP ACTIVITIES
1. A lecture was organized at Riphah College of Rehabilitation and Allied Health Sciences,
Islamabad on 6th
April, 2019. The topic of this session was “Orton Gillingham Approach”
2. The head of department of SLP department, Associate Prof. Dr. Ayesha Kamal Butt was
invited to Islamic Internationa University, Islamabad where she delivered a lecture.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (CDC) ACTIVITIES
Free Camps:
1. On 6th
April 2019, a free camp was conducted by RSWD at Chontra, Fateh Jang. PRH
and CDC-FRAHSparticipated in the camp. Ms. Rabia Batool (Speech therapist), Ms.
Subul Abrar (Psychologist/Remedial Therapist) and Dr.Ramsha Tariq (Physiotherapist)
represented CDC and provided free rehab services to a total of 25 patients.
2. On 14th
April 2019, another free camp was conducted by RSWD,PRH and CDC-
FRAHSteam at Pindigheb, Attock. At this camp, Ms. Rabia Batool (Speech Therapist),
Ms. Subul Abrar (Psychologist/Remedial therapist) and Ms. Wardah Zainab
(Psychologist) represented CDC-FRAHS and provided free rehab services to 6 patients.
3. On 28th
April 2019, a free camp was conducted by RSWD,PRH and CDC-FRAHSteam at
Ali Grammar School Tehsil road Fateh Jang. CDC participants were Ms. Rabia Batool
(Speech therapist), Ms. Maryam Inayat (Psychologist/Remedial Therapist) and
Dr.Ramsha Tariq (Physiotherapist) who provided free rehab services to more than 50
patients.

From 22nd
till 25th
April 2019, Dr. Bilal (PG Medical, Pead Dept) from Paediatric Department
PRH conducted medical investigations of children in CDC-FRAHS.
CDC-Talk Time at FM 102.2:
1. On 3rd
April 2019, a live radio transmission of CDC Time was conducted at FM
102.2with Speech Therapist Ms. Rabia Batoolregarding CDC awareness and
introduction.
2. On 10th
April, another live radio transmission of CDC Time was conducted at FM 102.2
with the Remedial Therapist Ms. Maryam Inayat regardingCDC introduction and the
individualized educational program.
3. On 17th
April, Dr. Ramsha Tariq Physiotherapist in CDC gave the introduction of CDC
regarding the physiotherapy equipment and services provided in CDC during the live
radio transmission.
4. On 24th
April 2019, a panel discussion was conducted on signs symptoms and
intervention for the functional level of Cerebral Palsy at FM 102.2.
CDC-Children Fitness Training:
1. On 19th
April, Friday group activity was conducted regarding Fitness Training.
2. On 26th
April 2019, another Fitness Training activity was conducted by the teachers of
CDC.
Birthday Celebration:
On 22nd
April 2019, birthday of Mujtaba was celebrated in CDC-FRAHS.
CDC-Children Terbiyah Class:
During the month of April 2019, group sessions on Islamic Teaching regarding Dua‟a before
eating and Bismillah were conducted for children of CDC on Interactive Screen.
Faculty/Students’ Clinical Training:
Team CDC attended the workshops organized by CDC.
On 15th
April 2019, Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) organizedYoung Athlete Teachers
Training at Grand Regency Hotel Islamabad which was attended by 2 teachers of CDC-
FRAHS Ms Maryam Inayat andMsSubul Abrar.
On 20th
April 2019,CDC staff Training on Behavior Intervention Plan was conducted by
Ms Irum Nawaz.
On 26th
April, CDC staff Training onPediatric Dysphagia was conductedby Dr. Sadaf
Noveen.
