Media Design Group is a team of Technical Consultants for acoustics, sound, video, voice, data, security

design and consulting. Our voice and data designs are designed by our RCDD/BICSI certified designer.

Advantages of a system designed by an RCDD

What is an RCDD Designer? RCDD is an acronym for Registered Communications Distribution Designer

is a designation for individuals who demonstrate expertise in the design, integration and

implementation of telecommunications (voice, data, video, audio and other low voltage control)

transport systems and their related infrastructure components.

RCDD is a designation globally recognized within the telecommunications industry. An RCDD is

responsible for the detailed design of new systems and/or the integration of an innovative design into

an existing system.

The RCDD designation was established by

telecommunications professionals to

document and standardize the base of

knowledge and requirements a

communications designer is to provide. This

designation is the standard measurement

used to identify design experts. Every RCDD

professional has successfully completed and

passed an extensive exam on the

requirements for communications

distribution design. A continuing education

agenda requires all active RCDDs to

participate as a prerequisite to meet all

current specifications.

Active RCDDs have continuous access to the

latest information in the communications design industry. Changes, updates and revisions in

telecommunications industry standards are known to render programs, projects and objectives

obsolete. Armed with this knowledge, our RCDD will minimize these impacts.

are specified, how they are to be installed, calculate electrical loads imposed on the building, heat loads

for the MDF and IDF rooms, and complete specifications for MDF and IDF room construction. We

provide all information to the MEP for inclusion very early in the project.

Media Design Group also coordinates with the service providers (telephone and data) to ensure the

infrastructure is in place for termination from the street to the Point of Presence within the building.

We specify industry standard equipment rack types and assemblies, and coordinate with the MEP and

Owner as to how the installation will proceed successfully. This closes the open loop in the details

required for a successful network infrastructure.

BICSI

BICSI was founded in 1974 to serve and support telephone company building industry consultants (BICs) responsible for the

design and distribution of communications wiring in commercial and multi-family buildings. BICSI is a not-for-profit association

assisting communication professionals with their careers by providing training, certification, conferences and publications in the

design and installation of voice, data and AV technologies.

BICSI is an international not-for-profit association with over 25,000 professionals in 110 countries around the world. The

organization’s scope has also broadened beyond wiring

buildings to include data

networks and low-voltage control transport systems in

commercial buildings.
