STAIR CASEEasy to construct into any geometrical shape.More durable , fire resistant and less noisyRequire comparatively thin sections.Easy to wash and clean so provide better sanitation. They can be built of any complicated design.TYPES OF R.C.C. DOUBLE FLIGHT STAIRCASEBehavior of double flight stairs has been investigated for various supporting arrangements. For convenience, the analytical results have been presented for a selected portion of staircase consisting of mid-landing, waist slab and floor landing which represents the general behavior For each support conditions a landing width of 1.5m has been selected.

CANTILEVER R.C.C. STAIRCASE

Definition : A cantilever staircase has one end of tread or going fixed and has other end free or it can be supported from centre with both ends free. It is made of various materials like wood, glass, r.c.c, fiber sheets or metal.

Cantilever staircase supported on spine beamCantilever staircase supported by wallCantilever staircase supported by wall.

This type of staircase has its tread supported by wall on one side and has a free end on the other side . Main reinforcement runs in the transverse direction at the top side of the steps, while shrinkage reinforcement runs at the bottom side of the slab in the transverse and longitudinal directions. To hold the top reinforcement in position of 6 mm stirrups are used every 20 to 25 cm. The main reinforcement is anchored in the wall whereas the shrinkage reinforcement is extended in the wall .
