Before You BeginUseful AdviceDo not use your system immediately after transport-ing it from a cold place to a warm place, as condensa-tion may cause the system to malfunction. If moistureforms inside this system, it may not operate properly. To correct the problem, turn off the power and waitabout 30 minutes for moisture to evaporateThis system is fitted with a laser. To avoid accidents, itis to be opened by qualified technicians only.Never leave the tray open as dust could cover thelaser lens and/or the tray could be bumped into acci-dentallyDo not place the system near wet areas such as bath-rooms and pool side. Avoid storing the system athumid places or near abnormally heated areas. Power is continuously supplied to the system. To dis-connect power completely, unplug the power cordfrom the power outlet.

Battery Power You can insert 8 D-sized alkaline batteries (not

supplied) and you can take your stereo just aboutanywhere. Open the battery compartment door onthe back of the unit by pressing down on the two tabsand pulling out the cover. Insert batteries in the bat-tery compartment.(See diagram) Note that the ACline cord must be unplugged from the jack on theback of the unit to operate on batteries. 2 AA-sizedbatteries (not supplied) are needed to keep radio sta-tion memory.IMPORTANT: Be sure to remove batteries when stor-ing the set for more than 30 days. Leaky batteries canbadly damage the system. Always return tape opera-tion buttons to their off position before storing. Thiswill relieve pressure on certain parts in the taperecorder that might deform after long periods oftime. Be sure to dispose of leaky, weak or dead bat-teries properly according to federal, state, and localregulations.
