The European Commission Horizon 2020: Societal Challenges and the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking invite proposals for their H2020-BBI-JTI-2018 Bio-based industries call. This supports research and innovation activities in Europe that will assess the availability of renewable biological resources that can be used for the production of bio-based materials and support the establishment of sustainable bio-based value chains.

Proposals may address the following topics within strategic orientation one to four – feedstock, process, product and market uptake:

BBI 2018.R1 resolve logistical, infrastructural and technological challenges to valorise residual and side streams from aquaculture, fisheries and the aquatic biomass processing industries;

BBI 2018.R2 develop techniques and systems to improve the performance of biocatalysts;

BBI 2018.R3 introduce new technologies to make pulping operations more resource-efficient;

BBI 2018.R4 apply advanced biotechnologies to convert biomass that contains inhibitors into high value-added chemicals and materials;

BBI 2018.R5 develop innovative single-step processes for conversion of a biomass feedstock into multiple readily usable intermediate streams;

BBI 2018.R6 apply emerging breakthrough technologies to improve existing value chains;

BBI 2018.R7 electrochemical processes for bio-based monomers and polymers;

BBI 2018.R8 develop adequate computational systems for modelling the design, start-up, scaling-up and continuous improvement of bioprocesses involving microorganisms;

BBI 2018.R9 develop functional molecules for bio-based coatings outperforming existing products and meeting market requirements;

BBI 2018.R10 develop bio-based packaging products that are biodegradable/compostable and recyclable;

BBI 2018.R11 develop technologies and systems to produce bio-based aromatics that outperform fossil-based counterparts;

BBI 2018.D1 improve the logistical and pre-processing steps of locally sourced biomass to serve as feedstock for the bio-based industry;

BBI 2018.D2 find solutions to dilution, pollution and content diversity challenges to turn urban bio-waste into sustainable feedstock for the bio-based industry;

BBI 2018.D4 produce biopesticides or bio-based fertilisers as components of sustainable agricultural management plans;

BBI 2018.D5 develop sustainable and cost-efficient high- performance functional ingredients from alternative sources for a wide array of applications;

BBI 2018.F1 produce on a large scale competitive bio-based building blocks, polymers and materials that outperform existing alternatives in identified market applications;

BBI 2018.F2 large-scale production of proteins for food and feed applications from alternative, sustainable sources;

BBI 2018.S1 benefit from previous and current work to create a coherent and stimulating environment for a sustainable bio-based industry in Europe;

BBI 2018.S2 expand the bio-based industry across Europe;

BBI 2018.S3 identify opportunities to promote careers, education and research activities in the European bio-based industry.

Proposals may take the form of research and innovation actions, innovation actions or coordination and support actions. Research and innovation actions and innovation actions require participation by at least three legal entities; each established in a different EU member state or Horizon 2020 associated country. Coordination and support actions require participation of at least one legal entity established in a member state or associated country. Legal entities established in a third country, who secure their own funding, may be included in the consortia.

Each successful proposal is expected to receive between €250,000 and €21 million, although proposals for other amounts will also be considered. The total indicative budget for this call is worth €115 million.

Opis:

This call aims at funding projects to develop, test, and implement innovative work-life balance strategies in the workplace. The purpose of these strategies is to facilitate the reconciliation of work and private life through supporting a more equal share of care responsibilities between working women and men, thereby encouraging a higher participation of women in the labour market. The objectives of this call are: - to develop, test and/or implement innovative work-life balance strategies in the workplace, conducive towards higher participation of women in the labour market and a better sharing of care responsibilities between women and men;

- to develop sustainable multi-level partnership models that would facilitate the implementation of innovative work-life balance strategies in the workplace;

- to foster knowledge and experience-sharing between different Member States and/or companies already implementing successful work-life balance strategies, with a strong emphasis on challenges faced by women in the labour market and the need to involve more men in care duties;

- to facilitate access to individualised information about social protection rights and entitlements;

- to facilitate professional and geographical mobility of the economically active population;

- to support the modernisation of social protection systems enabling them to respond to such challenges as digitalisation, the changing world of work, ageing of population and the capacity to withstand economic shocks.

Support to international co-production funds

Opis: The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency invites applications for its support to international co-production funds call. This aims to increase the capacity of audiovisual operators to develop European audiovisual works with a potential to circulate in the EU and beyond and to facilitate European and international co-production.

Eligible activities of a co-production fund include the production of feature films, animations and documentaries of a minimum length of 60 minutes intended primarily for cinema release and the implementation of concrete distribution strategy aiming at the better circulation of the supported works. The film should be distributed in at least three territories including at least one participating in the programme and at least one third country.

Co-operation and joint actions with countries not participating in the programme and with international organisations which are active in the cultural and creative sectors are also eligible.

The total budget is €1.5 million. Funding is worth up to €400,000 per applicant over up to 34 months, and covers up to 80 per cent of the total eligible costs.

Opis: The Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection invites proposals for its UCPM-2018-PP-AG call on prevention and preparedness in civil protection and marine pollution. This supports projects in the areas of prevention, preparedness and awareness-raising in civil protection and marine pollution. Projects may be concerned with one of the following topics:

UCPM-2018-PP-PREV-AG prevention in civil protection and marine pollution;

Legal persons, such as private entities, public entities or international organisation, based in union civil protection mechanism participating states, may apply. For projects under the external budget, applicants must be established in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine or Tunisia. Eligible entities from third countries may participate under the external budget item but cannot act as the coordinator.

Projects financed under the internal budget must involve a minimum of three entities from three different participating states, one as a lead consortium partner. Projects financed under the external budget must involve a minimum of three entities from three different eligible countries, including at least one instrument for pre-accession assistance beneficiaries not participating in the mechanism or European neighbourhood policy country as a primary beneficiary and an entity from at least one participating state as a lead consortium partner. International organisations may take part.

The total budget is worth €8.4 million. Projects may receive up to €800,000 each over up to 24 months. The financing rate is up to 75 per cent.Co-operation and joint actions with countries not participating in the programme and with international organisations which are active in the cultural and creative sectors are also eligible.

The accumulated turnover in 2017 may not have been higher than €50,000 in case the company has been established and working for more than a year. The total funding is worth approximately €50,000. Up to 15 projects will be supported to attend the cleantech camp and participants will receive travel costs worth up to €2,000 as well as accommodation in Barcelona or Porto. Three awards are available. The first prize is worth €20,000, the second prize is worth €10,000, the third prize is worth €5,000. Additional support is available in the form of intellectual property, legal services and support in concept analysis.

Prva tri leta Obzorja 2020 Evropska komisija je objavila dokument »Dejstva in številke – Prva tri leta Obzorja 2020«. V poročilu razkriva nekaj zanimivih podatkov iz prvih treh let Obzorja 2020. Poročilo vključuje podatke za leti 2014, 2015 in 2016. V teh letih je bilo prijavljenih 115.235 upravičenih projektov, ki so zahtevali sofinanciranje v višini 182,4 milijarde EUR. Skupna uspešnost razpisov v Obzorju 2020 je bila tako 12,6 %. Neodvisni ocenjevalci so skoraj polovico upravičenih projektov ocenili kot visoko kakovostne. Kljub dobrim ocenam je bil le en od štirih projektov finianciran. Skupno je bilo podpisanih 13.903 pogodb o so-financiranju, pripevek EU je bil skupno 24,8 milijard EUR. 90% vseh pogodb o so-financiranju je bilo podpisanih v manj kot 8 mescih. Povprečni čas od dneva oddaje projektnega predloga do dneva podpisa pogodbe se je skrajšal iz 303 dni v 7. Okvirnem programu na 192 dni. Okoli 54% udeležencev je prvič sodelovalo v Obzorju 2020, od tega jih je 73% podjetij ter skoraj polovica malih in srednje velikih podjetij. Slovenski udeleženci so sodelovali v 4512 projektnih prijavah, kar predstavlja 1,1% vseh projektnih prijav. Slovenia se uvršča na tretje mesto med EU-27 po številu prijav na raziskovalca, vendar je na predzadnjem mestu po uspešnosti prijav, ki je 11%. V stopnji uspešnosti prijav vodi Belgija z 19% uspešnostjo. Slovenski udeleženci so sodelovali v 516 uspešnih prijavah, skupaj pa so dobili 144 milijonov EUR, kar predstavlja 0,6% vseh odobrenih sredstev Obzorja 2020 v tem obdobju. EuCNC 2018 is the 27th edition of a successful series of technical conferences in the field of

telecommunications, sponsored by IEEE ComSoc and EURASIP, and financially supported by the

European Commission. This year’s motto is "5G and beyond", and it will focus on various aspects of

5G communications systems and networks, including cloud and virtualisation solutions,

management technologies, and vertical application areas, among others.
