INTRODUCTION TO RAY KAY's WORK 

RAY KAY

Ray Kay has influenced my project in many ways, the way he approaches all the music videos he has worked on is unique. The style and technique is something i wanted to apply to my on work. The artists he has worked are the biggest in the industry and each time he always manages to convey his and their style to perfection e.g. Lady gaga "poker face" video.The artist i am working with is from the pop genre but he used to produce hip-pop beats for various local up-coming musicans. Which is why i chose to work with him because i am able to fuse the style together.  I put together all the videos that Ray Kay has done and once i had put the images together i picthed the ideas to him. My own video will be shot in black and white and i will use some blue screen, this is because i want to try and achieve the cinematic aspect  that Ray Kay seems to do so well.

Ray Kay has worked on various videos and has worked with many artists he has worked with musicans like Beyonce, Ciara, Lady Gaga, Sean Paul, Christina Millian, Cherly Cole, The Dream, Amerie. During my research i looked at some of the videos he has directed for the singers to get some inspiration.

LADY GAGA POKER FACEPoker face was a video that was directed by Ray Kay the song was sang by the famous singer Lady Gaga. The video stood out to me because of it's style, one thing that Ray Kay manages to do well is take an artists style and he manages to incorporate it in the video which has become his signature. Lady Gaga is a very ecentric individual and Ray Kay manages to portray this is her video he took her public image and put all of her styles and managed to invent a memorable stylish video.

KAT DELUNA "RUN THE SHOW"ANALYSIS. VIDEO BY RAY KAY.My video will be studio based so i have been paying close attention to videos that have been filmes in studios. Ray Kay's work tends to be filmed in studios; thats how he achieves some of the best cinematic videos in the industry. they allow him to use his photographic and fashion background which makes him stand out as a director. I took a look at Kat Deluna's video Run the show to gather some ideas and inspiration, below is some screen grabs to show you how the video looks like.

TINCHY STRYDERNUMBER 1For my research i did'nt want to focus my research on just Ray Kay i also looked at the video directed who worked on Tinchy Stryder's video Number 1. I like this particular video because its got a glossy professional look its simple but visually exciting at the same time. When i begin filiming will take this video into consideration because there are many elements to it that are very similar to the video plan me and my artist Tinaye came up with. The video was directed by Ben Pugh.

CONCLUSIONRay Kay

The video am going to do is studio based, because its something me and my artist agreed on. The project will be filmed against white, blue and black screen with different custume change to match and to bring variety to the video similar to Ray Kay's videos. Ray Kay has created cinematic videos for many artists he has managed to combine his love for fashion and photography to create his signature. Which is why his videos are always immaculate, and hence why i chose to look at his work for when i start my own project. I am interested in fashion photography and fashion therefore i will try to incoporate what i know and use those skills when styling my artist, filiming the video and when i begin editing it. Ray Kay's work is very exciting visually and i will take some of the key elements that he tends to put in his work to help me with my own work. All the screen grabs will help demonstrate how my ideas for the video wil be used when i start editing the video
