A Facebook Timeline History of 2015 From Sheila & Richard Rausch Middletown DE December 2015 Volume 36 New Years in Newport News and Williamsburg, VA Sheila and Richard spent New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day in Newport News with Sheila’s sisters (Kay, Lauren and Pat). This has become an annual event. We had a nice dinner at Chowning’s Tavern and a great time at the Williamsburg First Night (including midnight fireworks). Picture shows us waiting for our table outside of Chowning’s Tavern. Of course the sisters shopping at Dillards New Years Day sale was the special event. Celebration of Life On February 2, niece Tracy Mack Stewart suddenly passed away at age 43 due to complications of diabetes. Over 100 people attended a Celebration of Life service in Matthews, NC near her home . Her mother Lauren and other family members and friends paid tribute to Tracy’s short but full life. Her children Taylor, 18 and Sophie, 5 took part in the emotional service. February in Orlando and Hilton Head From February 6-13, Sheila’s sisters Lauren and Kay spent a week with us at Marriott’s Grande Vista Resort in Orlando. We enjoyed the mild weather and relaxed around the pool. We took a day trip to Tarpon Springs, a “Greek Village” on the Gulf coast,. We had dinner with niece Kim and her boyfriend Scott at Chuy’s Mexican Restaurant. We visited Eola Park, Universal’s City Walk and had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Lauren flew home on February 13 and Kay, Sheila and Richard drove to Hilton Head for a few days on the way back to Newport News. We had lunch at Caddyshack at the Golf World Hall of Fame. While at Hilton Head we had lunch at Truffles with old friends Joan and Dave Schopp, brunch at Kenny B’s and sunned ourselves in Harbourtown. 2015 Holiday Letter Sheila and Richard Rausch Page 1 Reuniting with Old Friends Each year we manage to get together with old friends from various phases of our life. In 2015 we saw people we have known for over 50 years: We met Ted and Marsha Kleinman at a French Restaurant in Annapolis. Ted was the best man in our wedding in Orleans France in 1963. We met Carolyn and Herb Eisenberg in Philadephia. They were neighbors in both our first apartment and first house. And we met Janet Jerkovich in Newark, DE (husband Joe was busy playing golf so he could not join us), neighbors from our first house. Their daughter Trudi was a BFF with our daughter Becca. A Family Easter Eighteen members of the Rausch and Bergwall families got together on a beautiful Easter Sunday at Spasso’s Restaurant in the historic area of Philadelphia. The Ben Franklin bridge can be seen in the background. Grandchildren Update Travis Bergwall, 26 was married to Erin Mulroy on August 8 (more on that later). He created a new part-time business “West Chester Food tours” which offers a 2 ½ hour lunchtime borough walking and noshing tour leading customers up and down West Chester’s quaint and tree-lined streets, sampling as they go. He started a new full time job (Employment Recruiting) in early December. Trevor Bergwall, 24 begins a job in Basketball Operation for the new Canadian Basketball League in Toronto. Last year he worked as an intern for the Delaware 87ers, a basketball development league in the US. Trevor shares a birthday with Grandpa Rausch. Troy Bergwall, 20 is a sophomore at Drexel University majoring in Chemical Engineering. He is in an honors program and will graduate with a Master’s Degree. He begins his first co-op job in the spring. Mother Becca and Grandpa visit Troy in Philadelphia during the St. Gobain 350 Exhibit in June. Tori Bergwall, 18 is a senior at Rustin High School. She is busy with college applications favoring LIM in Manhattan .She works at Pita Pit, interns in a fashion program at Nordstroms, manages the HS basketball team and takes dance lessons to round out her busy schedule. Reuniting with Old FriendsEach year we manage to get together with old friends from variousphases of our life. In 2015 we saw people we have known for over50 years: We met Ted and Marsha Kleinman at a French Restaurant

Blake Harris, 15, is a sophomore at Mission HillsHigh School in San Marcos CA. He has beenplaying basketball for many years. His hard workand prowess paid off when he made the JVBasketball team. Picture shows a three pointer hemade in his first game on Dec 3.Brooke Harris, 13 is in the 8th grade at WoodlandPark Middle School. While an A+ student Brookecontinues to excel in her equestrian endeavors She wins medalsat each event she attends She competed in dressage for the firsttime last month and came in fourth place overall. She is also quitethe accomplished artist with a display of her artwork available onher Instagram feed.

Cruise to Bermuda from Baltimore HarborOn Friday July 18 Sheila and Richard left home after breakfastcompleted the short drive to Baltimore Harbor and boarded the

Grandeur of the Seas in time forlunch. It was a very relaxing sevenday cruise which included threedays at King’s Wharf in Bermuda.We were very impressed with thefood throughout the trip. Dinnerswere varied and excellent with agreat staff attending to all of our

needs. The entertainment includedfully staged Broadway stylemusicals, an Aerial Spectacular inthe Centrum,comedians and avariety of musicians at the variousclubs around the ship. We usedpublic transportation to tour theisland with a ferry to Hamilton forsightseeing, shopping and lunch.We took a scenic bus ride, passingworld famous beaches such as Horseshoe Bay and Elbow Beach onthe south shore, on our return to the ship. Afterreturning to Baltimore we took the short trip toAnnapolis and spent the day before drivinghome.

Debi Rausch returns to CaliforniaAfter almost three years on the east coastdaughter Debi Rausch returns to the SanDiego area on December 31 to begin anew job. She will be a Behavior SpecialistSupervisor responsible for overseeing theAutism programs in several area schools.She was most recently a para-professionalworking with special needs children atMiddletown High School in Delaware.

Erin and Travis Get Married on August 8On August 9 of 2014 Travis proposed to Erin Mulroy at a familyvacation at Sapphire Riviera Maya Resort in Mexico. Almost a

year to the day later they were married at the WestminsterPresbyterian Church in West Chester, PA. A spectacularwedding reception followed at the Mendenhall Inn in ChaddsFord, PA. There were about 130 guests at the reception with agreat band providing the entertainment.

Hedden Family ReunionThe last Hedden family reunion was held in the Smoky Mountainsof NC in 2002. This reunion, planned by the cousins, was held atHuntington Park along the James River in Newport News on

September 5. About 35 people attended the event with much ofthe food provided by William Smith, courtesy of Rick’s Steaks.There was a Memorial Service held for Tracy Mack Stewartwhere her mother Lauren and daughters Taylor & Sophie

deposited ashes in the James River. Thanks to Kathy Smith for allof her hard work which made this a great family event.

Casey Green Bar MitzvahCasey Green the last of niece Stephanie Rausch Green’s 3 boys

had his Bar Mitzvah on June 20. It was an all weekend event withan Oneg Shabat dinner on Friday at Temple Har Shalom, theceremony and reception on Saturday and a Brunch on Sundaywhich was Fathers Day.
