RATHMORE PARISH NEWSLETTER Week 5: The line that is most often quoted from the story of the woman caught in adultery is Jesus’ challenge to the
crowd who bring her before him ‘If there is one of you who has not sinned, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.’
It is a challenge to all of us to look inward before we ‘cast stones’ to judge others. (Triona Doherty Intercom April 2019)

“Forgiveness is not something we can give ourselves, one asks forgiveness, one asks it of another
person, and in confession, we ask forgiveness from Jesus. Forgiveness is not a result of our
efforts, but is a gift. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit who showers us with mercy and grace that pours
forth unceasingly from the open heart of Christ crucified and risen.” (Pope Francis)
