The company will be adding more hi-def channels on different number chan- nels in late winter or early spring,” Peters said. “By reducing band width of the analog chan- nels, which are really large, two or three hi-def channels can be added,” she noted. “Band width reclama- tion is a topic that will be heard a lot in the future as providers such as us, Time Warner, Dish and Direct will be dealing with. Law- yers are working diligently to get things done so we can offer more at the same cost.” “Those who regularly view the channel with the Nashville connection on channel 4, will be inconve- nienced until they adjust to turning to WPSD, but it is a matter of a good busi- ness decision in order to retain current rates and open up for expansion,” Peters concluded. Angeline Henry grants awardedTIMES LEADER/Jared Nelson

Seven community agencies received funding this week in the latest disbursement of grants from the Angeline Henry Trust, administered locally by First Southern National Bank. On hand for the presentations were (from left) Denise Pool for the HOPE Family Resource Center, which

received $1,000; Geneva Malone for the Community Disciples, $1,500; David Scott for HR Ministries/Joseph’s Storage Bin, $800; Torey Hammett for Youth Inc. of Caldwell County, $1,614; B.J. Strange for HR Ministries/Joseph’s Storage Bin; Bob Hayes, First Southern commu-

nity president; Kathryn Prince for the HOPE Center; Roberta Robertson for Bright Life Farms, $5,000; Rachel Bloodworth for the HOPE Center; Lisa Shaffer for the Caldwell County Preschool SAFE program, $500; and Michala Pepper for the Princeton Art Guild, $1,500.

Mediacom cablevision has announced lineup changes to the Princeton and Fredonia areas on or around March 8. The good news is that rates will not change.

One of the changes will be WSMV (NBC 4) Nashville will no longer be available on channel 4.

According to Phyllis Peters of the Des Moines, Iowa, offi ce for Mediacom, “WSMV, an NBC affi liate, will be dropped from the line-up, because it is a du-

plication of the NBC affi li-ate at WPSD in Paducah.”

The biggest reason for the change is the expense involved as the FCC re-quires providers to offer “In Market” channels, in-stead of forcing them to of-fer “Out of Market” chan-nels which channel 4 is.

Providers have to pay In Market and Out of Market channels a fee per house-hold and Out of Market is very expensive.

Had Mediacom kept the WSMV channel rates would have been forced to go up.

The FCC is beginning

to require more hi-def channel offerings where possible and WSMV is an analog channel adding tre-mendously to the expense.

“There will be no ad-dition at this time or net-work on channel 4. The company will be adding more hi-def channels on different number chan-nels in late winter or early spring,” Peters said.

“By reducing band width of the analog chan-nels, which are really large, two or three hi-def channels can be added,” she noted.

“Band width reclama-

tion is a topic that will be heard a lot in the future as providers such as us, Time Warner, Dish and Direct will be dealing with. Law-yers are working diligently to get things done so we can offer more at the same cost.”

“Those who regularly view the channel with the Nashville connection on channel 4, will be inconve-nienced until they adjust to turning to WPSD, but it is a matter of a good busi-ness decision in order to retain current rates and open up for expansion,” Peters concluded.
