VereTrop TM Tropical diseases are infectious diseases commonly found in the tropics due to the climate being conducive to the breeding of insects, parasites and bacteria. Many factors, such as the ease of global travel and the lack of effective vaccines, have also led to high incidences of such diseases. Dengue alone is estimated to affect 3 billion people in 100 countries. The majority of the affected people are in the developing or less developed regions and many of these diseases have common symptoms (fever) which presents a diagnostic problem to the treating physician. Tropical diseases, such as trypanosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthes, have also been neglected, further preventing timely, accurate and appropriate diagnosis and treatment. With factors of increasing trend of tropical diseases, its accompanying complications and the difficulties in achieving accurate, rapid diagnosis of the tropical diseases with similar symptoms, active surveillance, timely diagnosis and the development of individualized treatment is now urgently needed. To meet this need, Veredus offers 2 new solutions: VereTrop D TM and VereTrop R TM . VereTrop D TM and VereTrop R TM allow for rapid detection, differentiation and identification of major bacterial and viral tropical diseases, respectively. Robust and Time-tested Technologies: Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and microarray gives the VereTropTM chip the accuracy and sensitivity needed to provide answers in the shortest possible time.

Breakthrough Innovation: The integration of two powerful molecular biological technologies enables the development of the VereTropTM chip into a fast PCR-microarray based diagnostic test using the VerePLEXTM Biosystem to simultaneously detect, differentiate and identify selected biological agents all in a single test. With the flexibility afforded by our customizable updates in our VereChipTM target panels, we are able to provide diagnostic and surveillance tools needed today and be ready for the next threat tomorrow.

Veredus Laboratories, the future of diagnostics and surveillance, today.

VerePLEXTM BiosystemVerePLEXTM Biosystem combines molecular biology, microfluidics and microelectronics to bring the future of diagnostics and surveillance to you today. The VerePLEXTM Biosystem, along with the VereChipTM, is a breakthrough in innovation, integrating two powerful molecular biological technologies: PCR and Microarray.

VerePLEXTM Biosystem includes the following components: • Temperature Control System

(5 random access modules)

• Optical Reader

• Biosystem Software

• Barcode Reader

AdvantagesSpeed

• Fast turnaround time – sample to answer in less than 3 hours to provide multiple results in two tests

• Rapid identification and differentiation of targets to allow healthcare providers to administer timely and appropriate treatment despite the similarities in symptoms presented by the diseases

Comprehensive

• VereTrop DTM and VereTrop RTM detect, differentiate and identify major bacterial and viral tropical diseases respectively

Mobile

• The VerePLEXTM Biosystem is designed to be portable for usage

Easy to use

• The simple workflow allows for minimally trained or non-scientific personnel to run tests
