Guidance News Report Cards go home on Thursday, January 7th.

2016-2017 Kindergarten Registration is Jan. 12 & 13, 2016 from 9:00-1:00 at the Logan County Public Library. Please bring Birth Certificate and Proof of Residency with you to register your child.

Non-resident letters/forms for the 2016-2017 school year are attached to grade cards if your child is not in the Lewisburg School area. The form is due back Jan. 15, 2016.

Nurse News: Attention all 5th grade parents! All students entering 6th grade will be required to have a 6th grade physical and shots. It is not too early to get this done. I encourage you to go ahead and contact your child’s doctor and schedule an appointment. Students with a Kentucky Medical Card (or) no health insurance may qualify to have their physical done by the school nurse. Appointments are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis, and fill up quickly. The nurse will not schedule physical appointments after start of your child’s sixth grade year. Middle School Musical

“The Wizard of Oz”

Auditions

Who: Any Logan County School Student Grades 5-8.

When: February 2 or February 4

Where: Crossroads Church in Russellville You do not have to attend both days; pick one day and time slot. (return reservation below to secure your timeslot). We will sing, act, and do a little choreography. Come prepared to sing a short song and have fun! If you are interested in the part of” Dorothy” please come prepared to sing “Somewhere over the Rainbow” Invite your friends to be a part of the show!

6th Annual Logan County Middle School Musical “The Wizard of Oz” Ensemble Auditions Grades 2nd-4th Monday Feb 8, 2016

3:45-5:00 Crossroads Church Russellville Our middle school musical will have some ensemble roles for 2nd-4th graders, including munchkins, flying monkeys, and people of OZ. This will be a time commitment of 1-2 rehearsals each week after school, at Crossroads Church. We would love to have you audition, to be a part of this exciting show. Come prepared to sing any song of your choice and we will also be reading some lines together. We will cast up to 20 students for these roles. Family Resource Youth Service Center News

This year we served 120 children through our Christmas Angel Tree! This was all due to the generosity of our parents and community thank you so much for helping make Christmas special for so many children.

Winter coats are still available if you have a student in need please contact the Family Resource Youth Service Center

Lunch News…..

On Monday, January 11, students will have an option of the new Grab & Go lunch OR the regular menu lunch of that day. The Grab & Go lunch is the same price as the regular menu lunch. The Menu for 1/11/16 – 1/15/16 is as follows:

Monday- Grab&Go Lunch- Ham&Cheese Anytimer(compared to a lunchable), fruit slushie, baby carrots & milk choice…OR the Sandwich choice menu.

Tuesday –Grab&Go Lunch-Ham&Cheese Sandwich, cool ranch doritos, mandarin orange jello cup, baby carrots & milk choice….OR the Salisbury Steak menu.

Wednesday-Grab&Go Lunch-Pizza anytimer (compared to a lunchable) strawberry applesauce cup, baby carrots & milk choice….OR the Popcorn Chicken menu.

Thursday-Grab&Go Lunch-Fiesta pack: 2 cheese sticks, tortilla chips, salsa cup, mandarin orange cup & milk choice….OR the Cheeseburger menu.

Friday- Grab&Go Lunch-PB&J Uncrustables, nacho cheese doritos, apple slices, baby carrots, dessert choice & milk choice….OR the Cheese Quesadilla menu.

** The Grab&Go lunch will be the same every Monday-Friday. For example: Wednesday Grab&Go lunch will always be Pizza anytimer menu.

Academic Team News

The Lewisburg Middle School Academic Team is gearing up for the Governor’s Cup on January 23rd at Russellville Middle School. A parent information letter will be sent home with team members the week of the 19th with additional information about the event.

Sports News · Our 8th grade ball players and cheerleaders will be recognized on Tuesday, January 19th. Recognition will be held between the girls and boys game. Games will begin at 5:30pm against Russellville Middle School. · Cheer Katz will perform on Tuesday, January 19, during halftime of the girl’s game. · The Middle School Basketball Tournament is scheduled for January 29 and 30 at LCHS. We will have a RED-OUT Spirit Day on Friday, January 29, to kick off the county tournament. · JR Pro Basketball registration for Kindergarten-6th grade students will be held at LCHS in the lobby on Saturday, January 9, and Saturday, January 16, from 9:00-12:00.

BETA News! Upcoming dates: · Students planning to attend convention: Parental Consent/Medical Release and Code of Conduct forms due January 11!

· Songfest practices for January: 12th, 14th, and 26th from 3-4 pm and 22nd and 29th from 1-2pm. · KY State Convention dates: February 17th, 18th, and 19th!

8th Grade News · The second deposit ($75) for the 8th grade trip is due on Friday, January 15. · Fundraiser - 8th grade will sponsor a Valentine dance for 2nd-4th grade students on Friday, February 5 from 5:00-7:00. More details will be sent at a later date.
