From the Principal
Covid-19 update
There are some changes to the current restrictions in place regard-ing school activities. Please see details later in this newsletter from the Department of Education, titled “This guide is for parents and carers – A guide to NSW school students returning to face-to-face learning”. The easing of some restrictions are in line with health advice. We welcome the easing of more restrictions from next Monday (15th June) and look forward to even more from the beginning of Term 3.
Modified sport continues on Wednesday afternoons
The latest advice concerning easing of restrictions includes infor-mation regarding sport.
Unfortunately, inter-school sport (Grade and Knockouts), our Athletics Carnival and full or semi contact sports are not permitted. Wednes-day afternoon sport will continue in it’s current format until the end of Term 2.
From Term 3, all sport, including contact sport, can resume. We are currently in negotiations with other schools in our Zone to coor-dinate Grade sport during Term 3 and what the season will include. Mr Noreika, our sports coordinator, will have further information regarding progress in the coming weeks.
We thank all students, staff and parents/guardians for their patience regarding modifications to sport, during these times. As you are aware, sport is an important part of our school culture and fabric and we hope to have our winter season progressing from the beginning of Term 3.
High Potential Gifted Education exam held Saturday 13th June
Tomorrow, we have over 65 Year 6, 7, 8 and 9 students sitting the academic examination for a potential place in our expanding High Potential and Gifted Education program. The exam will be held in the school hall tomorrow morning. We encourage all students to be here at 8.30, in preparation for the exam. Good luck to all students!
I would like to thank Louise McNeil, our Deputy Principal, for coordinating the program and hosting two Zoom meetings for inter-ested parents and guardians.
Year 12 Practical
At present, we have 3 Year 12 subjects that require a practical com-ponent to be completed and submitted or performed for the HSC.
Music, Visual Arts and Wood Technology all have such requirements.
For the next 2 weeks, on a Wednesday afternoon during sport, from 12.45 – 2.30, we are allowing Year 12 students completing these components, to work on their major practical works. Staff will be supervising during these times and it allows our Year 12 students a large amount of time to work on their projects. We encourage Year 12 students in Music, Visual Arts and Wood Technology to take this opportunity, as it will only be offered on Wednesday 17th and 24th June.

2020 NSW Adolescent Vaccination Program for Year 10 Meningococcal ACWY Vaccination
Thursday 18th June 2020 Dear Parent/Caregivers,
The NSW Health and NSW Dept. of Education offers all Year 10 students one dose of the Meningococcal ACWY vaccination.
The Meningococcal ACWY vaccine protects against the four strains of meningococcal disease.
A Parent Information pack and Consent Form was distributed to Year 10 students on Tuesday 19th May. The information pack includes an information sheet, consent form and privacy statement. To consent to the vaccination of your child, parents/caregivers are advised to:
Read all of the information provided. Complete the consent form. Return the completed consent form to the school by Friday 12th June. Ensure that your child eats breakfast on the day of the school vaccinations clinic.
Parents/caregivers who wish to withdraw their consent may do so by writing to the school Principal. The Procedure for Withdrawal of Consent is available on the NSW Health website at www.health.nsw.gov.au/immunisation.
A Record of Vaccination will be provided to each student vaccinated at each clinic either as a physical card. The Record of Vaccination will be provided by NSW Health, not the school. Parents/caregivers should ensure that this record is kept for future reference and provide a copy to your local doctor.
Students who have a fever or cough will not be vaccinated, the nurse will perform a pre-vaccination assessment and determine the student’s suitability to be vaccinated.
If your child is absent or cannot receive the vaccination on Thursday 18th June, they will have another opportunity during term 4 2020 to receive the vaccination, depending upon COVID-19 restrictions at the time. On Thursday, 18th June, the South Eastern Sydney Public Health Unit, will be at Randwick Boys’ High School providing the Meningococcal vaccination for Year 10 students.
If you would like your son to participate in the NSW Adolescent Vaccination Program, read through the Parent Information Kit and complete the consent form. Your son will need to return the consent form to the front office by Friday 12th June.
If you have any questions regarding the vaccinations, please contact school reception on 9399 3122. Alternatively, you can phone South Eastern Sydney Public Health Unit, Sydney Office on 9382 8333.
Ms Cassar Head Teacher Administration.
