CHÂTEAU LAFITE, 1787

This Bordeaux is over 200 years old and was sold in 1985 at a price amounting to $156,450.

It has the initials Th.J carved on the bottle and it is believed to have been President Jeffersons possession.

2. JEROBOAM OF CHÂTEAU MOUTON-ROTHSCHILD, 1945

The price tag for this bottle of wine stands at $310,700 and $8,631 per glass. It is considered to be one of the best wines of the 20th century.

This vintage was sold to an anonymous bidder in London in 1997.

3. INGLENOOK CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY, 1941

Hailing from Napa Valley this Cabernet is considered to be one of the most expensive American wines ever sold.

This bottle was sold at 24,675 to Francis Ford Coppola, who described the taste as “a well-preserved, robust wine that had just finished fermentation at the time of Pearl Harbor."

4. CHÂTEAU MARGAUX, 1787

Unfortunately, this bottle was never enjoyed by a wine enthusiast. It was broken in a busy NYC dining night and the wine merchant collected $225,000 for the irreversible damage.

The owner claimed that this bottle was also owned by Thomas Jefferson.

5. KRUG, 1928

This bottle of Krug broke the record for the most expensive bottle of bubbly ever sold. Originating from 1953, it was sold in 2005 at the Acker Merrall & Conduit auction in Hong Kong for the amount of $21,200.
