FACTS ABOUT RAMA:

•Also known as Ramchandra

•7th avatar of vishnu.

•Rama was born in Suryavansha

•Rama is traditionally considered to have appeared in the last quarter of Treta Yuga.

Rama was born as the eldest son of Kausalya and Dasharatha, king of Ayodhya.

Lord Rama was born on the ninth day of the month of Chitra, hence we celebrate his birthday as a 'Navami'.

Rama had three brothers: Bharata (Bharat) born from the second wife Kaikeyi, Lakshmana (Lakshman) and Shatrughana from the third wife Sumitra.

Rama's Life and Journey

Rama was trained under Saint Vishwamitra.

•Ram went to Mithila with Vishwamitr to King Janak’s kingdom.

•Svayamvaraa was organized by King Janak for his daughter Sita.

•Sita was an incarnation of Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu

•In all the suitors, it was only Ram who could bend the bow and even break it.

RAMA-SITA

Rama gave up his rightful claim to the throne, and agreed to go into exile for fourteen years, to fulfill the vow that his father had given to Kaikeyi.

•Faithfull husband

•Rama always followed his promise.

•Excellent friend. (irrespective of their status)

•Even towards his enemies, Rama showed great nobility and virtue.

Though ram was a dharmraj there were some flaws in his character:

•He killed vali the demon from the back.

•He asked Sita to give the agnipariksha twice.
