 Ramadhan 2013  Ramadhan Guidelines: Actions that break the fast: - Deliberately eating, drinking, smoking. If anything in your mouth melts with the saliva such as sugar and is swallowed then the fast will break fast. Pouring Oil into the ears deliberately or by chance or sniffing some medicine up or pouring into nostrils will break t he fast. Water slipping down the throat when doing wudhu even though it was not intentional, will break fast. Inhaling smoke intentionally will break fast. Actions that do not break fast: - Eating or drinking by mistake does not break the fast. If a fly, dust or smoke (even flour dust) gets into the throat (accidentally) whilst fasting, the fast does not break. Application of oil to the hair or Surma (Kohl Powder) to the e yes does not break the fast. Smelling perfume does not break fast. Recommended Actions while fasting: - Partaking in the pre-dawn meal (Sehri) before Fajr ti me starts. To break the fast immediately after the sunset. To make the intention before the time of Fajr  Attaining piety to fast. Abundant recitation of QURAN. Abundant charity. Performing Taraweeh Prayer. This is Sunnat-e-Moakk ada (Obligatory Sunnah) to perform 20 Rakāt Taraweeh in Ramad- han. 08 Rakāt Taraweeh is not permissible. Makruh (Disliked) Actions while fasting: - To taste any food or drink and spit it out. To collect saliva in the mouth and then to swallow it, trying to quench one’s thirsty.  Telling lies, back biting, abusing or hurting others is forbidden in the normal course of life a nd commission of such acts during fasting is even more unlawful and disgusting. To remain unclean throughout the day in conditions that necessi- tates the need to perform ghusl. To gargle in the throat but if water is swallowed, it will break the fast. When not to fast People who are exempted: -  A woman who is in her monthly cycle or post child birth confine- ment. Pregnant women or a breast feeding mother if any risk to the child. A person who is on prescribed medicine during the hours of fasting  provided I f medicine is not taken that increases illnes s or weakness seriously. All those above are required to make up the fast later. A person who is chronically ill. A very week elderly person. Fidya (compensation ) should be paid in place of fast by such a person. Wa - bi - saw - mi - ghadin - nawaytu - min - shahri - Ramadhan. [I have Intended to fast for the coming day in the month of Ramadhan]  Allah - humma innee - l aka - sumthu - w abika - aamanthu - wa - alaika - tawaq qalthu - wa - alla - r izqi - ka - aftar- thu. [Oh Allah! I have fasted only for you, and I have believed only in you, and I have trusted only upon you, and I have completed my fast, only with your provision] Zakat-ul-Fitr £5.00 Per Person must be  paid before Eid Prayer. Eid-ul-Fitr Prayer 8.00AM possibly on 09th August 2013. 9.00AM If needed 2nd Jamāʿah.  *Beginning and the end of Ramadhan is subject to moon sighting.  Note: A few minutes have been adju sted to the start time s due to differ- ences of altitude from sea level.
