As Salaamu Alaykum ISCJ Community,

Ramadan Mubarak! This is an exciting time for us at ISCJ. We are in the middle of the Masjid Expansion Project, Alhamdulliah! I am again personally very excited about this Ramadan as we are planning a vi-brant month of worship under the leadership of Imam Chebli headlined by the beautiful recitation of our beloved Shaykh Ismael Essa. We will, Insha’Allah, continue to ensure that we sustain the good we are do-ing while striving to improve in the many different areas.

Some of the highlights for this Ramadan are as follows: (a) Minimize the fundraising (b) Complete 8 and 20 Rakats in a timely fashion (c) Managed babysitting arrangements (d) Daily online broadcasts

Due to the ongoing construction work, we will not be having any Dinner Iftars (Community and/or person-al) at the Masjid. We will provide water, dates and fruits. With Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala's help, and your cooperation, whether it is through your time, financial help and/or duas, we will, Insha’Allah, continue to do our best to ensure we provide an optimal Ramadan experience for our beloved community, who deserves the best services we are capable of providing. Insha’Allah, our goal is to raise $500K with $150K going to-ward ISCJ Operations and the remainder towards Masjid Expansion fund.

We pray that Allah bestows upon us the infinite blessings of Ramadan to allow this community to continue working together to ensure everyone feels welcome, the youth and seniors are happy to attend, the members continue to flourish, and one that all communities look to for guidance and support. We are looking for-ward to celebrating this holy month with all of you and pray we see you each of the blessed nights of Rama-dan! Ameen.

Wa Salaam Alaykum,

Arif Patel - President, ISCJ Board of Trustees

In summer of 2013, the ISCJ Board created a Task Force to work with the ISCJ Board and the Building Committee in order to plan for and execute the masjid expansion approved by the Township of South Brunswick as part of the Master Plan. The Master Plan included an approved 10,000 sq. ft. expansion of the masjid building. The Task Force and Building Committee began preparing a list of items needed in the renovation and expansion. The Task Force and Board approved a list that in-cluded among other things: (1) Increase prayer space (create a designated women’s prayer area) per Township approval; (2) Increase the number of bathrooms for men and women; (3) Increase the ablution area for men and women; (4) Expand kitchen area; (5) Improve traffic flow within the building; (6) Improve entry points to the building and increase foyer space; (7) Adequate built-in shoe racks/cubbies and built in benches near the shoe racks; (8) Designate a “daily” prayer area versus Friday prayer; (9) Classrooms; (10) Multipurpose room; (11) Office space; (12) Medical clinic space; (13) Library; (14) Conference rooms;

(15) Storage/Closets; (16) Utility areas; (17) Designated “Babysitting” Room – Mother-Child prayer area; (18) Update outside façade & improve landscaping; (19) Wheelchair access (20) Dedicated Youth and Senior Space. The Task Force and Building Committee selected an architect through a bid process and began working with him and several versions of the design were drafted. The Task Force, Building Committee and architect began working on switching the 4,000 sq. ft. basement to a 4,000 sq. ft. second floor. The Board agreed and preliminary discussions took place with the Town-ship. The Township advised that even though this was a “simple and straightforward change” an application would need to be filed with the Township. Alhamdulliah, the Township unanimously approved the plan earlier this year and renova-tions have been started. We are currently working on #2 & #3 in the list and Insha’Allah, our goal is complete this as soon as possible. Since the Masjid is still a construction site, so for that primary reason, we will not have any Iftars this year. We pray that with what you see us doing to the beloved house of Allah that will compensate to having to eliminate some of the regular programs we would normally have. Please continue to donate and keep the ISCJ community in your duas.
