15 Geo-hydrological features: (Secondary Data) Junagadh district is the sixth largest district of Gujarat state, measuring about 10607 sq .kms. It falls between 20o 44' North latitudes and 69o 40' and 71o 5' East longitudes. The total population of the district, as per 2001 census is 24,48,173 souls. Girnar and Barda hills represent the hilly region of the district. Bhadar, Uben, Hiran, Machchhundri, Madhuvanti, Somat, Sarbali, Raval, Shingavada are the main rivers of the district. The district has radial and dendritic type of drainage pattern. The average annual rainfall of last decade is 744mm. Ground water condition varies with the litho logical characteristics of the geological formations. The depth of open wells ranges from 15 to 35 Mtrs, and total depth of bores ranges from 100 to 300 Mtr. depth bgl. Limestone is deposited in the coastal area. Due to proximity of the seacoast, ground water quality is brackish to saline. Generally, depth of wells ranges from 10 to 25 Mtr. depth bgl. and depth of bores ranges from 50 to 100 Mtr. bgl. The average yield in the wells / bores is approx. 50 to 400 LPM. Occurrence of ground water in the Gaj beds in confined with in the limestone. Alluvial deposits occur in Ghed area. Which have inherent salinity. The district is facing problem of deterioration in ground water quality. The coastal areas are heavily affected by salinity intrusion. Excessive fluoride content problem is also noticed in many villages of Junagadh, Manavadar, Mangrol, Una, Kodinar, Keshod, Verava, talukas of the district. Deeper aquifers of trap formation in Junagadh, Vanthali, Maliya,Keshod, Manavadar, and Una taluka yield brackish to saline water. Due to problem of insufficient yield and non-potable ground water, the most of the villages are getting drinking water from various Regional water supply schemes with sources as reservoirs.

16 Predominant wind direction Winds are generally light and moderate in summer.

They become stronger when westerly t south-westerly winds prevail during the south-west monsoon season. In October winds are from west and north east. In November and December winds are mainly from north-east direction. In January and

Vehicles carrying the material would be covered with tarpaulin sheets. Speed of the vehicle will be maintained. Trucks will not be overloaded. Regular maintenance of vehicles and machinery shall be carried out to control emission. Develop green belt around the lease area, provide mask for mouth and nose protection, ear-plug for noise hazard and specks for eye protection.

36 Measure for control of noise, vibration and fly rock problems due to blasting

Blasting is not be required for proposed mining activity

37 plan for managing storm water, Details of garland drains to be provided

The rain water collected in mining out pits during monsoon season will be used by farmers of nearby areas. When mining activity will commence, the water collected in the pits will be used for dust suppression. Garland drains (1.5 M width) will be provided in W direction if required.

38 plan for managing dust, noise, silt and other pollutants during mining activities

* First Aid kit shall be provided for the workers * Proper training for handling the particular job to every worker. * The personal protective equipments such as masks, helmets, gloves, respirators etc. shall be provided to the workers depending upon the nature of the work involved. * Safety shoes, mask, helmet, earplug will be provided.

39 Details on transportation route and measure proposed for control of fugitive emission during transportation

Approach road from lease area to highway. Fugitive emission emerge that time very less measure. The extracted mineral would be transported from the mine to the end user by adopting following measures so as to minimize dust emissions: * During loading and unloading regular water spraying will be carried out. * Water spraying of haul roads and other roads at regular intervals. * Provision of dust masks to workers. * Vehicles carrying the material would be covered with tarpaulin sheets.
