the best will in the world it can be dicult to predict when the keys will be available – best

to make sure you have arrangements in place for children and pets to be

looked after leaving you free all day to take care of your move.

Arrange insurance – our Financial Services Department will be happy to assist with all your insurance needs, for example buildings, contents, life cover and income protection.

Re-direct your mail.

Notify your change of address to the bank, doctor, dentist, vet, your employer, council tax, DVLA, insurance providers and anyone else you can think of.

MOVING CHECKLIST

Arrange for the utilities at your new home to be transferred into

your name, for example gas, electricity, broadband, sky etc.

Arrange final meter readings at your old home.

Arrange for a plumber to check over the central heating system at your new property – it is likely that your purchase contract will provide a warranty that the heating system will be in working order for a short while after the date of entry. Check the terms of your contract, arrange a plumber accordingly and report any defects to your Solicitor within the appropriate timescale. For peace of mind, if the heating system in your old property is due a service, arrange to have that done before you move.

On moving day make sure you leave your home in a clean and tidy condition and remove any

contents which are not included in the sale.

Pack a survival kit (kettle, tea and coee, toilet roll, light bulbs, cleaning items etc) and make sure this is easily accessible when you arrive at your new home.

Now all that’s left to do is unpack, settle in and put the kettle on!
