SUMMARY
I. Project Title
Maintenance and Fabrication of Electronic Equipment
II. Objetives and Importance of the Project
There are many nuclerar pilot plants in KAERI. The typical
plants are Post-Irradiated Examination Facility, Radiation Waste
Treatment Facility, and Nuclear Fuel Fabrication plant. Since
nuclear materials are treated in these plants, safe operation is
always required in particular.
In Those plants, a lot of systems and equipment are used for
process control, data processing, safety management, etc.
And also, more than a hundred instrument are employed in various
laboratories for test and experiment. Most of the equipment and
instruments are very sensitive, and they could make dangerous
hazard due to unexpected malfunction. Therefore, they have to be
operated in good condition and repaired completely in case they
are out of order so as to minimize the environmental pollution and
the radiation damage.
III. Scope and Contents of the project
This project has been developed to maintain and repair the
nuclear electronic equipment and instruments in KAERI. Therefore
the following have been carried out:
-5-
1. Maintenance and repair of process instruments
:total 69 instruments in Post-Irradiation Experiment Facility
and four other facilities
2. Repair and fabrication of electronic equipment
;total 167 equipment including one gamma spectroscopy system
and 3 fabrication
3. Calibration and correction of instruments
;total 80 instruments including one level transmitter
4. Preventive maintenance of electronic equipment
;214 items
IV. Results and Proposals for Applications
By the results of this project, we are able to solve the
problems on maintenance and repair of electronic equipment, and
able to reduce operation expenses of the pilot plants in KAERI.
In addition, this project would provide us with the opportunity
to improve the maintainability and instrumentation, and also to
develop similar systems, as applied to the pilot plants.
With the technology and experiences gained through this project
we will be able to support the maintenance of the process systems
of the KMRR (Korea Multi-purpose Research Reactor) facility and of
the IMEF(Irradiated Material Examination Facility) which will be
operated in earnest, and maintenance of the instruments and
equipment in these facilities effectively.
