The 60kph hairpin is one of the slowest corners of the F1 calendar, where braking and traction are important for lap time and overtaking possibilities. The last sector is unchanged from the old, longer Hockenheim track, and consists of a series of closely-spaced medium and high-speed corners which are hard on the tyres. The last right-hander on to the start/finish straight is a tricky corner with a small liſt off the throle, and it is easy to run wide there when trying to get the last bit of performance out of a qualifying lap.
