The Next Book Club Discussion:

Friday, September 11 at 10:00am

Pick up and read the next book club selection,

My Father’s Paradise: A Son’s Search For His Family’s Past

by Ariel Sabar. The author “brings to life the ancient

town of Zakho, discovering his family’s place in the

sweeping saga of Middle-Eastern history…This

powerful book is an improbable story of tolerance and hope set in what

today is the very center of the world’s attention.”

Volunteers Needed to Usher or Greet

at Our High Holyday Services

TBA is asking for your assistance to serve as an

usher or a greeter for the High Holydays. Volunteers help insure that

our High Holyday worship services run smoothly. Sign up to assist

with greeting and ushering on the TBA website or

contact Jamie Wilson at [email protected]

Participate in TBA’s Virtual Backpack Drive

This year, we are asking families to help us by donating funds so that

we can buy school supplies in bulk to benefit children in need in our

own community. You may also participate at the backpack stuffing

party at TBA on Sunday, September 27 at 5:15pm.

To donate to the Virtual Backpack Drive, please go the

TBA website.

ROSH HASHANAH ALTERNATIVE WORSHIP EXPERIENCE

Monday, September 14 from 10:30am-12:30pm

at the JCC on the Hudson

Looking for something different? On the first day of Rosh Hashanah you

are invited to join some fellow TBA members for a spiritual experience

that is interactive and educational. We will sing, discuss, and

explore the meaning of the Holyday together.

The program will be geared toward adults and

children over 10 (who must be accompanied

by their parents). No babysitting will be

available at the JCC on the Hudson.

Honoring Bob and Marilyn Harris Friday, September 11 at Shabbat Services—7:30pm

Please join us as we express our appreciation to Bob and Marilyn for their many, many contributions to TBA over the years and to wish them well on their

relocation to sunny Florida.

A festive Oneg in Bob and Marilyn’s honor will follow the Friday night service.

Selichot Program and Service

Saturday, September 5 from 7:00-10:00pm Begin the High Holydays on a high note and make them

more meaningful.

At 7:00pm we will view a short film, THE QUARREL. This wonderful film is about a chance meeting in 1948

Montreal when Holocaust survivors Hersh Rasseyner (Saul Rubinek) and Chaim (R.H. Thomson) reunite on Rosh Hashanah. The men become

involved in a daylong discussion of God, fate, reconciliation, and friendship in this sensitive film from director Eli Cohen.

Coffee, cake and Havdalah at 8:30pm. Following, at 9:00pm will be a magnificent Selichot service, introducing the music of the Holydays and

beginning the work of repentance .

WJCS Havorah -Yom Kippur Experience

Wednesday, September 16 from 7:00-8:00pm

TBA will be joining with the WJCS at TBA for a Yom

Kippur experience. We will celebrate the holiest day

of the Jewish year together through prayful singing,

candle lighting, blowing of the shofar and more!
