MULTIPLE SYSTEM METHOD(1 SYSTEM 127 ADDRESSES)If the transmission route for the R-type FireAlarm system uses a single system, a singlefailure may affect the entire system. Thus,based on the risk diversification philosophy,HOCHIKI incorporated a multiple-systemdesign, which reduces the impact on thesystem to its minimum should a failure occurs.

TOTAL EXTENSION DISTANCE :2.4KMTo monitor scattered buildings at a site, suchas a factory, for instance, the transmissiondistance will be insufficient on the singlesystem method and multiple control panelsbecome necessary. With the multiple systemdesigned by HOCHIKI, however, a singlesystem can accommodate 2.4km of totalextension distance. Thus, a single unit of thecontrol panel can handle all the monitoringactivities. This method provides much moreroom than the single system method.

Besides the automatic test function required by the Japan FireService Law, implemented via the use of the automatic testfunction-equipped detector, its standard installation includesthe unique self-diagnosis function which executes “ detectoroperation test”, “detector contamination test” and “standbypower test”. The system handles differenttypes, scales, purposes anduses of building with ease.

This system provides flexible setup using moduleswhich matches the types of equipment information,such as automatic fire alarm, gas leakage, SmokeControl and general monitor equipment, etc., andallows flexible combination of connection withterminals. When combined with other facilities, itprovides the base for building a complete Fire Alarmenvironment which caters to the specific conditionsof buildings.

The system is useful for buildings of various scalesand uses, include areas where an indefinite numberof guests may visit, staff areas and parking spaces,etc. It helps to minimize confusion, which may ariseduring a fire, by its interlocked operations, such asthe administrator emergency guidance feature andsmoke control devices, etc.

This system caters to various types of buildingenvironment, uses and management systems (madepossible via the automatic test function using devicessuch as indoor detectors which operate when theoccupants are not around), such as the location andscale of buildings from a single block of high-risemansion to multiple-block apartments. It is a FireAlarm system designed with cost-effectiveness inmind.

The automatic test function allows the heat andsmoke tests to be omitted during the inspection,which allows a more comfortable environment forpatients. In addition, R-type display panel, whichprovides identification information on locations faraway from the control room, and annuciators, whichdisplay maps or lamps, can be installed in the nursecentres on every floor. As such, every floor will havea monitor system which runs 24-hours a day.

With the combined use of multi-signal detectorsand fire monitor modules, etc., a flexible monitorsystem can be built for guest rooms and publicrooms, etc. The privacy of your guests will bemaintained with the use of the automatic testfunction.

In the case of schools and factories, where variousfacilities are scattered around in the estates, acomfortably wide area monitor system can beconstructed with the R-type system characterisedby the multiple-system method, or the single-systemmethod characterised by its extension distance of2.4km/ system. It can also incorporate a centralisedcontrol using the CRT system.
