Right-to·- Read Program report by Neil Olson. Office equipment needed, Filing Cabinet, bulletin boards and shelving totaling $155.00. Norbert Hill made a motion to approve the $155.00 for equipment, in case the money cannot be obtained elsewhere. Loretta Ellis seconded. Carried

Olson requested permission to post job openings for 2 Teacher-aides c.. .. ..l a secretary-aide. Loretta Ellis moved the Council approve _the job descriptions~·posting of the job openings, contingent on the approval of the Education Committee. Irene Moore 9econded. Carried.

Land Committee report by Howard Cannon . . Sherry Cleveland application was tabled pending _an opinion from Solicitor. Secretary read a letter from the Solicitor's office concerning the age of applicants. Norbert Hill moved to refer this back to the Land Committee. Eva Danforth seconded. Motion carried by a vote of 6 for, 0 against, 2 abstaining. Gordon McLester made a motion the Land Committee report be referred back to the ·Land Committee and a date be set for a meeting between the Land Committee and the Business Committee. Irene Moore seconded. Motion carried. Tuesday, September 25, at 1:00 p.m. at the Tribal Building , a special meeting will be held.

Irene Moore moved to approve the lease applications of Lorraine Cornelius, Diane Funmaker, Gerald and Alberta Metoxert, and Kenneth W. Harris. Loretta Ellis seconded. Carried.

Gordon McLester moved to adopt the resolution cancelling Priscilla Manders' lease. Eva Danforth seconded. Carried.

:C:ducation report by Norbert Hill, Jr. Mr. Hill introduced Judy Atkins, Counselor at Seymour High School. The Education Co~~ittee recomrr.ended the Oneida portion of the Native American Language program be taught in Oneida. Norbert Hill, Sr. moved to adopt a resolution requesting that the Oneida portion of the Native American Language program be taught at the Oneida reservation and submit this resolution to GLITC, Inc. Gordon McLester seconded. Carried.

Wendell McLester made a motion to send copies of the Tribe's endorsement of Mr. Herschel Sahmaunt for Deputy Commissioner for Indian Education, to all members of the National Indian Advisory Board. Eva· Danforth seconded. Carried.

The Education Committee recommended that home-school coordinators, tutoring, and right-to-read reports be given to Norbert Hill, Jr. who will give·over-all report to the Busines~ Committee with all persons involved- being present at the meeting to answer questions ·. Norbert Hill, Sr. moved to accept the recommendation of the Education Conimittee. Irene Moore seconded. Carried.

The Secretary read a letter from Bond, Schoenech '& King requesting a 5-year extension of the retainer contract related to the claim of the Oneidas against New York State. Loretta Ellis moved to table this until we are familiar with the original contract. Wendell McLester seconded. Carried.

Norbert Hill made a motion the Tribal Chairman attend the N.C.A.I. meeting in Denver, September 14 and 15 for "Realignment of the B.I.A." Loretta Ellis seconded. Carried.

\._ Norbert Hill moved to delegate the Tribal Chairman to find someone to attend the Lutheran Church Nat'l Conference in Kansas .City, Kansas, October 6 and 7th. Irene Moore seconded. Carried.

Loretta Ellis asked when will the Tribe sent the . $1000 pledged to the N.I.E.A. Convention in Milwaukee. Irene Moore made a motion to send the money now out of Re~enue Sharing. Loretta Ellis seconded. Carried.

Austin Summers , Jr. wants permission to plow the land on his agricultural leased land. Wendell McLester moved to approve, Norbert Hill seconded. Motion carried, 7 for, 0 against, 1 abstain.
