CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Sunday 10:00am Mass
This program invites pre-school age children as well as those that have not received Holy Communion yet (essentially grades PreK-2), to experience the Word of God at their level with an age-appropriate Scripture lesson taught during the Liturgy of the Word. Following the lesson, which
takes place in the Church basement, children rejoin their families at Mass.
St. Charles Borromeo Church October 13, 2019
Did you pick up your plastic baby bottle last weekend? St Charles Pro-life group, aided by our Knights of Columbus Council, is sponsoring a “loose change” Baby Bottle Collection during the “pro-life” month of October. You are asked to deposit your loose change in that baby bottle and
return it, when full, to St Charles before the end of the month. All that change will go to WOMANKIND to help them as they assist women with their pre-natal needs. More bottles are available in the church lobbies. Parents of second graders, preparing for First Reconcilia-tion and First Eucharist, and parents of eighth graders, preparing for Confirmation, are reminded of this month’s Parent Sacramental Catechesis scheduled for this Monday, October 14, 7:00 till 8:00pm, in the Corrigan Gym. Father Patrick Schultz is our scheduled speaker. Father Schultz was “a big hit” last year and we asked him back for Round Two. As promised, this is the second of four meetings (one per month, September to December). We will start on time and you will be heading home after one hour. I promise! See you Monday! Father Chris Cox and his Committee have lined up a great series of speakers for St Charles Post Cana Ministry, 2019-2020. The next Post Cana offering will be this Friday, October 18, starting at 6:30pm in the Lower Parish Hall. The evening’s activities conclude at 8:30pm. Babysitting is pro-vided in the New School Building. This Friday’s featured speaker will be Father Terry Grachanin, now pastor of St Noel Parish in Willoughby Hills and former associate pastor of St Charles, 2013 to 2017. Welcome back, Father Terry! St Charles Dismas Ministry thanks the many parishioners who contributed to the recent Dismas Ministry Card Drive the last week of September. The final tally totaled 22 full boxes of various cards and envelopes, in addition to hundreds of stamps as well as cash to purchase additional stamps and supplies. Your generosity will guarantee that the imprisoned and jailed will receive a friendly word on birthdays, holidays, and Veterans’ Day. Many of those confined say no one remembers them except the good Dismas folk of St Charles! First Responders, and those who support them, are reminded of the Annual Mass for Police Officers, Firefighters, and Emer-gency Medical Personnel scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 4:00pm, at Our Lady of Angels Church, 3644 Rocky Rivers Drive, (just north of Kamm’s Corners—Lorain Avenue in the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland.) Father Russ Lowe, OLA pastor and Cleveland Fire Department Chaplain, (and former associate pastor of St Charles, 1992-1997) will be our host. Father Kevin Klonowski, a priest-son of St Charles, currently associate pastor of Holy Family Parish in Stow and chaplain to the Stow Police Department, will be the homilist. Active and retired personnel are encouraged to attend in uniform. As promised, after much study and investigation, we had some upgrading performed on our church sound system. The federal government required changes in the “wireless” part of the system. From what I have “heard” from you, the work performed has made a distinct improvement. This is the second week of the 2019 “October Count.” Ushers are reminded to take that head-count during homily time and post the results on the chart in the Priests’ Sacristy.

Try and make time once a week and stop by Merici Chapel and say a rosary and talk to Our Blessed Mother. Her son is also waiting to see you.
