IPSWICH TOWN ACADEMY ASSOCIATION www.itfcacademy.com AUGUST NEWSLETTER Simon Milton Director of Academy Sales Ipswich Town Football Club Portman Road | Ipswich | Suffolk | IP1 2DA Tel: 01473 400942 [email protected] www.itfcacademy.com Dear Academy sponsors, Welcome to the new season! What a great start for the first team! After a really successful 2014/15 with your continued support we have continued to grow our Academy Association with lasts season fundraising total being over £300,000! With the emergence of players like Teddy Bishop, Myles Kenlock, Josh Emmanuel from the Academy to our first team it shows that everyone’s time, support and investment is playing its part. We look forward to 2015/2016 being successful on and off the field this season! Why I support the Academy? Ecocleen East Anglia is delighted to be sponsoring the Ipswich Town Academy. “As a life-long fan myself it gives me great pleasure knowing we are contributing to the development of the next generation of players. Through investment a successful academy can only be beneficial to the future of the first team, club and supporters.” Kevin Morphew Regional Director Ecocleen East Anglia New Academy sponsor 15/16 Get well soon! Academy Scholar Monty sadly injured himself representing our U21s against Leeds at Elland Road on Monday 10th August. He has had an operation on a dislocated ankle and will be out for six months Monty is sponsored by One of our new sponsors, Office Angels, the recruitment Company, teamed up with Source One Consulting and Elite Renewables to sponsor the Academy U15s Tour to Ireland to take part in the Galway Cup. Chris Moore, Pat Lewis & David Moat travelled with me to Galway to watch the team in action and represent the Club at the Tournament. Bryan Klug, Jason Dozzell and Duncan Wheeler were the coaches with the team and we were able to witness them in action as they prepared the team for tournament football. The U15s managed to win the Macron Plate Final and bring home a trophy for the Academy, but this is really only half the story. The way that the boys conduct themselves on and of the pitch while representing Ipswich Town was the highlight of the trip for us. They are on the ladder to becoming professional footballers and have to show the same commitment and discipline as our first team. We would not be able to attend tournaments like this without the support of Chris, Pat & David who funded the trip and I am delighted they witnessed the U15 team playing really attractive football and lifting a trophy. Academy Success! We have had great success with our former Academy scholars and now first team professionals. Debuts for Josh Emmanuel and Myles Kenlock after impressive performances in Pre Season. Plus Kundai Benyu, Michael Crowe, George Fowler, James Blanchfield, Shane McLoughlin and Sam Ford travelling with the first team squad in recent weeks. The main role of any Academy is to provide players for the first team squad so Bryan Klug and his coaches can feel very pleased with the new crop coming through the ranks.

Academy Parents TributeI recently met with an Academy Sponsor who is also an Academy Parent, during our meeting he made a glowing tribute to the Academy and its coaching staff so I asked him to put it in writing so I could share it with other sponsors and fans. It sums up why he is involved and how the Academy enhances the person as well as the footballer. My sponsor/parent will remain anonymous but you will see how passionate he feels about the environment we have created.

“Ipswich Academy gives a very broad range of boys a tremendous opportunity to develop their footballing skills under professional coaches, but it also does so in an environment where the boys learn to respect each other, the adults who coach them and themselves thanks to the strong work ethic and discipline that is insisted upon. The result is that, in my experience, all the boys that I have met have been well-mannered and willing to chat about football and other issues in a friendly and polite way and all have a breadth of experience gained from being exposed to team-mates from a wide variety of backgrounds. As a result, they get what one might call an education in life that will be as invaluable to them as the football skills they learn, and I believe that this is a tremendous credit to all the staff at Playford Road (and Portman Road) who are involved in the Academy set up. An added bonus for an ITFC season ticket holder like myself, of course, is that hopefully one or more of the boys each year can become a first team regular, and it has certainly been great to see an increasing number of Academy boys playing at Portman Road on a Saturday afternoon over the past few years. In reality, though, this will be the result only for a minority, but nevertheless the broader benefits of having been at the Academy will accrue to all the boys that have had the pleasure of attending it, and that is why I believe it fully merits the sponsorship which I am happy to provide.”
