A glimpse through activities conducted from July to October 2017

Guru Pournima was celebrated on 10th July, 2017. The students paid tribute to theirteachers. On this day, elocution Competition was organized in English, Hindi, Marathiand Gujarati. Students participated in large numbers.

Dental Check-up was arranged for the entirecollege on 1st August, 2017. A team of fourdoctors carried out dental check-up.

A sense of strong patriotic fervor was seen on Tri-Colour day on 14th August, 2017where the students were dressed in Saffron, White and Green on the eve ofIndependence day.

Singing Competition on patriotic song was organized on the Tri- Colour day i.e. 14thAugust, 2017.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION - 15th AUGUST, 2017

Teachers' day was celebrated on 6th September, 2017. Students of std XII posed asteachers taught different subjects to students of std XI and XII.

Handwriting Competition was held on 23rd September, 2017.

A seminar on 'Child Abuse' was held on27th September, 2017 for girls. A team ofPolice Officers from Tilak Nagar PoliceStation conducted the seminar.

Ramji Assar Vidyalaya committee organized prize distribution function for the S.S.C.toppers and oath ceremony for the student academic council members on 15th July2017. The chief guest for the function was Shri. DilipRawal, a well-known Gujaratipoet, writer and actor. The first ever edition of R.A.V. Quarterly E - Bulletin wasinaugurated by his hands.

On 22nd July 2017, Prize distribution for Std V to Std IX was held by the R.A.V.committee. Where in prizes were given by the chief guest Shri. Ramesh Sheth, (Directorof White Cloves Services Pvt. Ltd.) to the students for their best performance in theprevious academic year.

On 28th July 2017, a free Dental check-up camp was organised for the students of theschool. The expert team of doctors consisting, Dr. Dipti Gandhi, Dr.Aniket Gandhi, Dr.Dharit Gandhi and Dr. MitaliGandhi who are there in the practice of dentistry sincemore than 32 years, examined the dental health of the students.

'Triumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt. Ltd.' (T.I.M.E.) had conducted aseminar on Vedic Maths for the students of std. VIII and IX on 31st July 2017. Variousmethods and tricks were being shared with students to make mathematics easy andinteresting.

Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2017, with great enthusiasm andrespect in the school.

On 24th August 2017, 'Vishwa Gujarati Diwas' which is also birthday of legendarypoet, Veer Narmad was celebrated in the school. A special programme was arranged inthe Ruia hall for all the students.

A seminar was arranged on 'Effective Parenting' for the parents on 29th August 2017by the school.

School has taken an important initiative for the future of std.X students. We havestarted to organize career oriented seminars for the students so that it would be easy forthem to select the best career after the S.S.C. examination. We invite the best experts intheir fields to motivate and guide our students about various career opportunities.

As on 5th September was holiday, the 'Teachers Day' was celebrated in the school on4th September 2017 with great joy. Various activities were taken in all the classes.

On 18th September 2017, 'Water Pledge' ( JalPratigya) was taken by all the students inthe school to save and conserve the water and the rivers in India.

Inter class science exhibition was held in the school on 22nd September 2017 in the Ruiahall. Trustee of Ramji Assar Vidayalaya committee Shri. Vithaldas Bhatiainaugurated the event.

There were in all 15 exhibits from Junior and senior groups. The exhibits were judgedby the chief guest Dr. Hansa Dahisaria (Ex-Principal of S.D.D.R School ). Awardwinning projects were given certificates and cash prizes.

On 29th September 2017, Navaratri festival was celebrated in the school. After theworship of Goddess Durga , Staff members enjoyed Garba dance in the Ruia Hall.Members of PTA, SMC and SMDC were also invited for this function.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. had arranged drawing competition for thestudents on account of 'SwachhtaPakhwada' on 1stAugust 2017.Beautiful drawings were being drawn by the students, showing the importance ofcleanliness. HPCL had given gifts to the participants and prizes for the best drawingsas per the standards.

On 2nd September 2017, PCRA ( Petroleum Conservation Research Association)organized drawing and essay writing competition in the school the topic was 'Smallsteps of fuel conservation can make a big change'. The winners were being felicitatedwith the certificates.

On 10th September 2017, two students from junior group and 2 students from seniorgroup had taken part in 'Bharat Ko Jano Quiz Competition' organised by BharatVikas Parishad at SNDT college, Ghatkopar.

On 12th September 2017, Camlin Kokuyoconducted 'Creative Writing Competition'in association with Isha Foundation. Thetopic was, 'Saving Rivers - India's Lifelines.'10 winners were being offered prizes.

Time - A Precious Gift

Every human being gets the same resources to utilize. Now it's up to him howhe uses them. Time is one of the most valuable resources which everyone gets in equalquantity but the quality of life depends upon how one uses it.

We all get precious 24 hours in our life every day. Mathematically 86,400seconds are deposited in the account of our life every day. The interesting part is, evenif we don't utilize them, they are going to get over at the end of the day. Now relatethese numbers to our life….. A life with limited time and unlimited desires!

The life history of all the great and successful people has one thing in commonand that is managing the available time in the best way possible. The skill of timemanagement and its implementation determines whether a person will remainordinary or become extra ordinary in his life.

It is very important to write down the things to do, arrange them as per thepriorities, make a time table and then to religiously follow it. It may happen that, wehave to wait for the right time. But mind it, time never waits for anyone. It is justpassing constantly and continuously.

Let us make a vow to respect the time and utilize it in the best possible way wecan. Let's live every second to its fullest and pursue the desired goals. Time is a kind offinite currency and we cannot afford to waste or misuse it. Be active and passionateabout what you do all the time. After all this is the one and only life that we have.

Prof. Mahida Vijay K. (Convener, Guidance & Counselling Cell) and Prof. DeshpandeKishor(Convener, Competitive Examination Cell) of the College had organizedworkshop on " How to write resume and Diary" where Prof. Krishna Pandit and Prof.Nasreen were invited as Resource Persons on 29th September, 2017.

On 1st August 2017 nearly about 141 NSS volunteers had participated and takenSwachhatashapath in Ruia hall. Our Principal Dr. Swati Desai and our former principalDr. A. D. Vanjari and both NSS programme officers were present during the programme.Principal Dr. Swati Desai had motivated and guided all our volunteers for theSwachhtaAbhiyan Mission.

� The college campus and classroom cleanlinessactivity was organized on 2ndAug and 4thAug2017. Nearly 110 students participated in theprogramme. We had made groups of 10volunteers each who had cleaned theclassrooms, corridors, library includingcollege campus. Our NSS Volunteers alsomotivated our non NSS members for themaintenance and cleanliness of our house,college and other public areas by way ofspeech in classrooms.

� A guest lecture on waste management wasorganized on 3rd August,2017 at 9:30 a.m. inRuiaHall . The guest speaker of this programwas Mrs. Rashmi Joshi (Joint Secretary , EcoRox NGO, Mumbai). She guided NSSVolunteers on - How to manage waste athome, College & in our surrounding? Nearly145 NSS Volunteers participated in sameprogramme.

� A guest lecture was organized by NSS Uniton "Solid Waste Management in Mumbai"on 5th August 2017 at 10 am in F.Y.B.ComDivision B Classroom. The Guest Speakerof this programme was Mrs. Sindhu Iyerfrom Shri Mukti Sanghatana Mumbai. Shehad done her project work on Solid WasteManagement in Mumbai and discussed theresults for her project work with our NSSVolunteers. Sindhu Madam had discussedabout various ideas of the Solid WasteManagement in Mumbai and appealed allthe NSS and Non-NSS Volunteers to takeactive part to reduce the Solid WasteProblem in Mumbai. Nearly about 200NSS and Non-NSS Volunteers participatedin the programme.

� Street play on "Awareness about SwachhBharat Abhiyan" was presented by ourNSS Volunteers on 12th Aug. 2017 inCollege campus. Nearly about 50 NSSVolunteers participated in this activity.

� Awareness rally on "Swachh BharatAbhiyan" was organized on 14th Aug. 2017.The main purpose of the rally was to createmass awareness on cleanliness in society.Nearly about 150 NSS Volunteersparticipated in the rally.

Nearly about 30 NSS Volunteers werepresented in the College campus on 15th Aug.2017 for celebration on Independence Day.

On 19th August 2017 NSS Volunteerspresented street play on "Awareness aboutcleanliness "in adopted area near Ghatkoparrailway station. Nearly about 30 NSSVolunteers participated in the activity.

Under Guidance and Counselling Cell andCompetitive Exam Cell Workshop wasconducted on "How to prepare resume andReport Writing". Prof. Krishna Pandit andProf. Nasreen were invited as a resourceperson. 87 students participated in the session.

� NSS Unit organized orientation programme for NSS volunteers on 22nd August 2017 at11:30am in F.Y.B.Com Div. D Classroom. Principal of the college Dr. Swati Desaiattended the programme as the chief guest. She briefed NSS volunteers about thesignificance of NSS, NSS logo and moto, NSS activities and she also guided regardingthe completion of 120 and 240 hours in NSS. Captain Swaminathan, Ms Deepali and MsChandra guided students on water conservation by speaking about "Rally for Rivers" aninitiative by Isha Foundation NGO to protect the rivers. Mr. Sanyasi from JagannathEducation Trust and Mr. Nikunj Asar also remained present for the occasion and guidedthe NSS volunteers about the career making. Former principal Dr. A.D. Vanjari sir alsoremained present and guided the students.

� NSS certificate distribution programme wasorganized on the occasion of celebration of NSSFoundation Day on 25thsept. 2017 at Ruia hall.Chief guest Prof. B.S. Bidve (NSS programmeco-ordinator, University of Mumbai) , Shri.Dhirubhai Mehta (President of RAV) PrincipalDr. Swati Desai, NSS programme officer Prof.Sukhdev Chavan and Prof. Raju Ambhore werepresent for this programme. Rangoli and postercompetitions were also organized on the sameday. Nearly about 190 NSS volunteersparticipated for the programme.

The exhibition on Best out of Waste was organized on 26thsept. 2017 at Ruia hall. About80 NSS volunteers participated for the programme.

Competitive Exam Cell was inaugurated where special sessions were arranged onGeneral Knowledge and Current affairs by Convener of the Cell Prof. Deshpande andother members.

The poster competition on Traffic awareness was organized on 28thSeptember 2017.Around 40 NSS Volunteers participated for the programme.

UnderWomen Development Cell of the College Dr.Ashwini Lohar ,Councilor , RajawadiHospital were invited as a guest speaker to Counsel girl students on general Issues. Morethan 70 girls participated in the Lecture. Prof. Dr. VeeraTalukdar and other members ofWDC were present for the session.

Prof. DeshpandeKishor, Convener and other members of the Marathi Wangmay Mandalhad successfully organised Essay and Poster making Competition were 120 studentsparticipated "The blood bank of Rajawadi Hospital organized blood donation camp on13th and 15thAugust, 2017 at Ghatkopar railway station and Bhandup railway station our4 NSS volunteers participated in same programme for helping them.

� Two NSS volunteers namely Mr. Sohel Khan andMs.PriyankaTerevanker had successfullycompleted LTPcamp at Ratanam College, Bhandupfrom 13th Aug. 2017 to 17th Aug. 2017. "Onoccasion of Rakshabandhan on 7th August 2017our NSS Volunteers tied Rakhi to communityservice provider people. They appreciated theirwork contribution for the society and motivatedthem for good work in future. � Our NSS Volunteers had undertakencleanliness activity on 8th August 2017 inGhatkopar Railway Station adopted area.They cleaned platforms, lineup area nearticket counter and passed the message ofImportance of Cleanliness in our life.Nearly about 40 NSS Volunteersparticipated in this activity.

Cleanliness Activity was also conducted in Bhimnagar adopted area on 10th August2017. NSS Volunteers cleaned the public places in adopted area. Nearly about 50 NSSVolunteers participated in this activity.

Mass Awareness campaign on Importance of Cleanliness was undertaken by NSSVolunteers on 11th August 2017. In this campaign our NSS Volunteers did door to doorvisit in adopted area and create awareness.

On 21st August 2017 MDACS organized Peer Educator Training Workshop on HIV &AIDS for Central Mumbai Suburban NSS Volunteers. One male and one female NSSvolunteer attended that workshop from our college.

On the occasion of Ganesh Festival, our NSS Volunteers had helped the Tilak NagarPolice on 26th, 29th and 31stAugust 2017 and 5th September 2017 for controlling crowdof Ganesh devotees.Around 40 NSS Volunteers participated in the activity.

NSS Volunteers actively participated in the "Rally for Rivers" in Ghatkopar on 01stSeptember 2017. Rally for Rivers is an initiative by Isha Foundation that is working forthe preservation of rivers and trees across India. Captain Swaminathan and his teamincluding Ms Deepali Jadhav, Ms Amita, Ms. Chandrika and Mr. Sanjay Bhanushali hadconducted an orientation programme earlier for the NSS Volunteers to make them awareabout the Rally for Rivers. Ms. Amita from Isha Foundation guided and instructed ourvolunteers regarding the said rally -"Rally for Rivers." Students created awareness aboutwater conservation among people. They also appealed society to be come together to saverivers. It was a wonderful experience for us- said NSS Volunteers. Around 70 volunteersactively participated in the rally. Students were given away with T-Shirts, refreshmentand certificates of participation by Isha Foundation. Captain Swaminathan and his wifespecially thanked Prin. Dr. Swati Desai, NSS Programme Officers - Prof. SukhdevChavan & Prof. RajuAmbhore and NSS Volunteers for their efforts.

� The University of Mumbai had organized StatelevelAward Distribution function on 24th Sept.2017 at Convocation Hall, Fort Mumbai.Principal Dr. Swati Desai and 20 NSSvolunteers attended the programme.

� University of Mumbai in collaboration with'International Youth Fellowship' (IYE) hadorganized "Mind Training Camp" for teacherson 15th September 2017 at Patuck GalaCollege of Commerce & Management,Santacurz (East), Mumbai. The main objectiveof the training camp was building a healthy andstrong mindset, developing self-discipline andmanaging changes. Prof. Sukhdev Chavan as aNSS Programme Officer had attended thecamp. It was very helpful to the teachers forcontrolling mind, increasing confidence andto achieve success in their goals.

College Boys Kabaddi Team participated in University Level Kabaddi Competitionwhere, they succeeded in winning consecutive two matches against Poddar College ofCommerce and Siddharth College of Commerce and entered into the next round.

College Girls Kabaddi Team participated in University Level Kabaddi Competition where,they won the First Round against S. M. Shetty College.

College football Team participated in University Level Football Competition where ourCollege Team was unable to win the match against S. K. Somaiya College ofArts, Scienceand Commerce.

Prof. Mahida Vijay attended the 'Workshop on Revision of Syllabus of M.COM(Accountancy) and Banking & Finance' organized by University of Mumbai at SIWSCollege, Wadala. "Indoor sports were organized in Ruia Hall on 5th October, 2017 where210 students participated in Carrom, Chess and Table Tennis tournament. President ofRAV Shri Dhirubhai Mehta inaugurated the event. Hon. Secretary Shri. Ramesh P. Zaverias well as Trust Member Shri. Vithaldas Bhatia were also present at the event.

On 8th August, 2017, 'Planning Forum of the Department of Economics' organizedguest lecture on various Government Schemes. The Chief Guest for this programmewas Prof. Dr. Poonam Singh, Doshi Women's College, Ghatkopar (West). About 160students attended the lecture.

On 9th October, 2017 Guest lecture was organized by IQAC in association withDepartment of Commerce, Guidance and Counselling Cell and Placement Cell on thetheme of 'Career Prospects in Financial Sector' for the Students of M.COM andTYBCOM. 170 students had participated.

Expert lecture was organized by Department ofAccountancy on the Topic of 'Principles,Concepts and Conventions of Accountancy'. 145 students had participated for thelecture.

The following six teachers were felicitated with 'Shikshak Sanman Guru DronacharyaPuraskar' by Hon. Member of Parliament Shri. Kirit Somaiya.
