Flower Garden Quilt BlockThe finished block measures 16inches square (161/2inches unfinished).Instructions: Use springtime colors, with a white background. Make 2 blocks.Use good quality, 100% cotton fabrics and prewash your fabrics. Flower Garden

ImageImageFrom a springtime color, cut one 21/2inch square.

From a springtime color, cut four 21/2inch squares.

From a springtime color, cut eight 21/2inch squares.

From a springtime color, cut twelve 21/2inch squares.

Cut thirty-nine white 21/2inch squares.

Assembly

Join these squares in strips of eight.
You can strip piece each row by stacking the colors in piles, then adding a square to each row.

Sew completed strips together to form the block.

Your completed block will measure 161/2inches.Sixteen inchesaftersewn into a quilt!

This is a scrap quilt and is very easy to sew. The solid row of white squares at the top and right side of the block serves as a dividing strip between the blocks.Options

Flock of GeeseThe finished block measures 10inches square (101/2inches unfinished).Instructions: Use good quality, 100% cottonprewashedfabrics.Flock of Geese

AssemblyFrom each color, cut a 57/8inch square.

From each color, cut four 33/8inch squares.

Lay a light square on top of a dark square and draw a diagonal line from corner to corner.

Sew1/4inch from each side of the line, then cut along the line and press the seam toward the dark fabric. (Or cut the squares on the diagonal and sew the triangles together.)

Join the small squares as shown.

Sew these to the larger squares to form the block.

Your completed block will measure 101/2inches. Ten inchesaftersewn into a quilt!

16inch four patch Quilt BlockThe finished block measures 16inches square
(161/2inches unfinished).Instructions: Use good quality, 100% cottonprewashedfabrics.Block of the Month

Cut four 81/2inch by 41/2inch pieces from each color.

Place these right sides together, and sew along the long edge.

Press the seam toward the darker fabric.

Join these squares as shown.

If you choose to use a fabric with a large print or motif, you can fussy cut your strips to create a secondary pattern, as illustrated below.Your completed block will measure 161/2inches.Sixteen inchesaftersewn into a quilt!

Layer a white 27/8inch square on a floral 27/8inch square and draw a line on the diagonal. Sew1/4inch from each side of the line, then cut along the drawn line.

Press the seam toward the floral print.

Assembly

Sew squares into strips, as shown.

Sew the strips together to form the block.Your completed block will measure 101/2inches. Ten inchesaftersewn into a quilt!

Cut four 21/2by 41/2inch rectangles from a medium blue.

Cut four 21/2inch squares from white.

Cut five 21/2inch squares from the medium blue.

Sew four of the blue squares to the white squares. Press the seam toward the blue.

Sew a blue rectangle to each of the units in the previous step as shown in the graphics. Press the seam toward the blue rectangle.

Sew the newly formed 41/2inch squares to each side of a white rectangle, as shown. Press the seam toward the square.

Sew the remaining white rectangles to each side of the remaining blue square. Press the seam toward the blue.

Piece the units together.

Your completed block will measure 101/2inches.Ten inchesaftersewn into a quilt!

Log Cabin Star Quilt BlockThe finished block measures 101/2inches square. (11 inches unfinished).Block of the Month

ImageCut one gold fabric and four blue fabric 21/2inch squares.

ImageCut two gold and two blue 27/8inch squares (star points)

Place the gold squares on top of a blue squares, right sides together, cut the layered square diagonally, and sew the four half square triangles together along the diagonal edge. Press seam allowance toward blue fabric.

ImageOR, Place the gold squares on top of a blue squares, right sides together, draw a diagonal line and sew1/4inch to each side of the line. Cut along the line you drew and press open.

ImagePiece the star block together as illustrated; it should measure 61/2inches.

ImageUse a variety of six 2 inch red and blue strips cutting one strip each of the following lengths: 61/2inches; 8 inches; 8 inches; 91/2inches; 91/2inches; 11 inches.

Sew a 61/2inch strip to one side of star block, press toward strip. Turn star block a quarter turn to the left.

Sew an 8 inch strip to the star block, press toward strip.

Sew an 8 inch strip to the same side of the block as the 61/2inch strip.

Continue adding the following size strips, making sure the strips are added to only two sides of the block.

Your completed block will measure eleven inches.10 1/2inchesaftersewn into a quilt!

Card Trick Quilt BlockThe finished block measures 12inches square (121/2inchesunfinished).

Cut one 51/4inch background square; cut both ways on the diagonal to form four triangles.

Cut two 47/8inch background squares; cut each on the diagonal to form four triangles.

2.) Cut one 47/8inch and one 33/4inch square from one of your prints/solids. Cut each on the diagonal to form triangles.3.) Repeat step 3 for the remaining three prints/solids.

Refer to the diagram and sew one of each print/solid small triangle together to form the center square.

Refer to the diagram and sew the remaining of each small print/solid triangle to a small background triangle along a short edge of the triangles. Sew these to one of the larger print/solid triangles, as shown in the diagram.

Sew the remaining large print/solid triangles to a background triangle along the long sides to form squares.

Assemble the block as pictured; you will have nine squares that will go together like a nine-patch block.Your finished (unfinished) block should measure 121/2inches. Be sure to leave the seam allowance on the block, DO NOT cut it to the 12inch finished size -- as the finished measurement represents the block size after it is sewn into a quilt top.

Indian Trails Quilt BlockThe finished block measures 6inches square (61/2inchesunfinished).

Cut one 21/2inch background square.

Cut four 27/8inch background squares; cut each on the diagonal to form triangles.

Cut 27/8inch squares from your prints/solids. Cut each on the diagonal to form triangles -- five triangles of one color, three of another, and one triangle of your remaining color.

Refer to the diagram and sew the triangles together to form the squares.

Assemble the block as pictured; you will have nine squares that will go together like a nine-patch block.Your finished (unfinished) block should measure six and one-half inches. Be sure to leave the seam allowance on the block, DO NOT cut it to the 6inch finished size -- as the finished measurement represents the block size after it is sewn into a quilt top.

Four-Patch Nine-Patch Quilt BlockThe finished block measures 12inches square (121/2inchesunfinished).Cut four 41/2inch squares from a white background fabric.

Cut twenty 21/2inch squares from bright jewel tone fabrics.

Assemble the jewel-tone squares into five 4-patch squares.

Assemble the block as pictured; you will have nine squares that will go together like a nine-patch block.

Your finished (unfinished) block should measure twelve and one-half inches. Be sure to leave the seam allowance on the block, DO NOT cut it to the 12inch finished size -- as the finished measurement represents the block size after it is sewn into a quilt top.

Sawtooth Star Quilt BlockThe finished block measures 12inches square (121/2inchesunfinished).Cut one 41/2inch square from a white-on-white fabric.

Cut eight 21/2inch squares from a white-on-white fabric.

Cut eight 21/2inch squares from a dark holiday green fabric.

Cut two 47/8inch squares from the dark holiday green fabric, then cut on the diagonal to form four triangles.

Cut two 47/8inch squares from a deep holiday red fabric, then cut on the diagonal to form four triangles.

Cut four 41/2inch squares from the deep holiday red fabric.

Sew two of the green 21/2inch squares to the top corners of each red 41/2inch square, placing them in the upper corners and sewing diagonally across the square. Trim1/4inch from the seam and press open.

Sew two of the white-on-white 21/2inch squares to the bottom corners of each red 41/2inch square, placing them in the upper corners and sewing diagonally across the square. Trim1/4inch from the seam and press open.

Sew together the red and green triangles to make 41/2inch squares.

T-Block Quilt BlockThe finished block measures 12inches square (121/2inchesunfinished).Cut ten 27/8inch squares from a white-on-white fabric.

Cut two 47/8inch squares from a white-on-white fabric.

3. Cut five 27/8inch squares from a light blue fabric.

4. Cut five 27/8inch squares from a dark blue fabric.

5. Cut one 47/8inch square from the light blue fabric.

6. Cut one 47/8inch square from the dark blue fabric.

7. Cut all of the 27/8and 47/8inch squares on the diagonal to form triangles. Sew a blue triangle to each white triangle to form twenty 21/2inch squares and four 41/2 inch squares.

. . . or place a blue square on each white-on-white square and draw a line across the diagonal. Sew1/4inch from each side of the line, then cut on the line and press open.8. Prepare four 61/2inch blocks as shown -- two with the light blue and two with the dark blue.

9. Assemble the block as pictured; you will have four 61/2inch blocks that should be placed as illustrated in the graphic.Your finished (unfinished) block should measure twelve and one-half inches. Be sure to leave the seam allowance on the block, DO NOT cut it to the 12inch finished size -- as the finished measurement represents the block size after it is sewn into a quilt top.
