Before You Write STEP 1
CREATE A MARKETING STRATEGY
(Understand)
Understand your product:
What are you selling?
What are its features?
How can you translate those features into benefits?
Understand your consumers:
Who are you selling to?
What are their needs and desires?
How can you solve their problems?
Understand your market:
How does your product stand out in that market?
What is your unique selling point over your
competitors?
STEP 2
RESEARCH
(Study)
Study your product:
How/Where can you learn more about your
product? (Interviews? The Internet? The library?)
Why should consumers choose your product over
competing brands?
Study your consumers’ behavior
What are their needs and desires?
What is most important to them?
Study your market
Who’s your target audience? Which categories to
they belong to? (High spenders? Low spenders?)
What are their spending habits? Where are they
from? What lifestyles do they lead?
Who are your competitors? What are their
strengths and weaknesses?
