QUEZON CITY SOLID WASTE
MANAGEMENT
Quezon City has a total land area of 166.20 km2 (64.2 sq mi) and a total population of 2 679 450, has the highest population in Metro Manila(2007). It is composed of 142 barangays, the most populated of which are Commonwealth, Batasan Hills and Payatas.

EPWM Department is mandated to:• Enforce all laws, regulations and policies
pertinent to environmental management and pollution control;
• Design and maintain a waste collection and disposal system conforming to the requirements of RA 7160, 8749 and 9003; and
• Implement a civic consciousness program in support of its environmental and waste management programs.
SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL
• The City currently generates a daily average of 7,150 cubic meters or 1 ,429 metric tons of solid waste. These are all dumped at the 7.2-hectare Payatas Dumpsite.
Collection of Solid Waste
HIWA-HIWALAY NA BASURA SA BARANGAY PROGRAM
The following shall be implemented in all Barangays:• segregation of biodegradable
(nabubulok) and non-biodegradable (di-nabubulok) wastes in each household;• door to door dedicated collection of
segregated wastes.
Collection schedules will be as follows:
Monday-Wednesday-Friday Collection Schedule• Monday and Friday for
biodegradable (nabubulok) collection• Wednesday for non-
biodegradable (di-nabubulok) collection

Trucks shall be marked with biodegradable or non-
biodegradable tarpaulins to indicate the type of waste to be collected upon arrival
at the Barangays .
For Barangays that are already advance in the implementation of their own solid waste management
programs, the City shall deploy trucks marked with residual tarpaulins indicating that only residual wastes will be collected during the specified date of
collection.
