Barcelona Adult Team Adventure Treasure Hunt Thank you for purchasing our Barcelona Adult Team Treasure Hunt. We hope these
instructions and the hunt meet your expectations.
Hunt Leader’s role
In order for the Hunt to be a success and for it to run smoothly it requires a Hunt
Leader – i.e. someone to set up and run the hunt. These instructions should be read
only by the designated Hunt Leader. If the leader also wishes to be involved as a hunter
– then they should do their best NOT to look at the solutions to the clues until the very
end of the hunt! We email the solutions in a separate file to help facilitate this.
The Hunt Leader’s role is as follows:
1. To read and re-read these instructions in order to fully understand how the
hunt works, and what needs to be done to ensure fun is had by all the
participants.
2. To set up the hunt by printing and copying the various documents.
3. To place the clues, maps etc in numbered envelopes as instructed ready for
each team.
4. To introduce the hunt to the hunters by reading the instructions to them.
5. To score the hunt. The hunt requires the solving of clues of various types as
well as taking some digital photos, and these will need checking (scoring) by
the Hunt Leader at the end of the hunt.
6. To decide on the final winning team and to award any prizes.
NOTE:
The setting up of the hunt requires the placing of documents into various
envelopes. An alternative to this is to simply copy the full set of clues, answer
sheets etc as a pack and hand these to the teams at the beginning, and let them
decide the order they will approach the locations etc – this is quicker, but the
teams may end up going to the same locations at the same time.

Overview of the hunt
1. Firstly, the hunt leader needs to set up the hunt, which involves printing
clues, the map, scavenger list etc as instructed on page 4 and placing them
into envelopes which the teams open as the hunt progresses;
2. Introduction – The Hunt Leader reads an introduction to the teams, which
sets the scene and allows time for any questions – a copy of this is also in
the 1st envelope for reference use by the teams;
3. All the teams start at a location marked on the map. After which each team
will head to a different location;
4. The clues take the teams to various locations throughout Barcelona, and
require them to achieve certain things. They will earn points for achieving
these things;
5. Some envelopes include quizzes, puzzles, general knowledge questions etc –
the more they can answer – the more points they will get. They have answer
sheets on which to write their answers. There is far more than they could
achieve in the suggested 3 hours – therefore they must prioritise!
6. In the first envelope, they will find a scavenger list – they will earn points for
obtaining as many of these items as they can during the hunt without
spending any money. However, if you wish – you may give them a budget;
7. At the final location the hunt leader must check the scores and award the
winners as they see fit!
Time Limit
The hunt will last approximately 3 hours. This timing can of course be varied.
The Clues
We have tried very hard to ensure only one solution is possible for each clue….but even
we are surprised sometimes, so should any confusion occur, judge fairly! Also all
locations should be accessible – if not, at least all teams are in the same boat!

Hunt Leader Preparation
In order to properly prepare, we recommend the leader work through the following:
1. Read through the instructions, and ensure you have a good understanding
of how it works;
2. Have sufficient pens / pencils etc and digital cameras (optional but
recommended) ready to hand out.
3. Print and prepare the Hunter Team Puzzle Answer Sheets and Hunter Team
Location Answer Sheet (print sufficient plus spare). On each, we have
included a space for the Team Captain and Team Name.
4. Print 3 copies of each puzzle clue (in high quality full colour) There are 24
numbered puzzle clues on 12 pages (i.e. 2 puzzles per page.)
5. Print 3 copies of the Einstein Clue.
6. Print 3 copies of the Scavenger List.
7. Print 3 copies of the Location Clues.
8. Print 3 copies of the Map(s) of Barcelona (2 pages)
9. Print 4 copies of the Introduction (one is to be read out loud at the start)
10. Make sure you have the Hunt Leader Puzzle Answer, Hunt Leader Location
Answer and Points Scored Sheets (for tallying scores at the end) printed and
ready for your use at the end (don’t peek!!) These are found in a separate file;
11. Have a prize or prizes ready.
12. Using the “Envelope Preparation Sheet”, prepare 3 sets of 10 envelopes, with
team names written on a set each as you wish. Number the envelopes 1
through 10 for each team.

Envelope Preparation Sheet
You should have printed the following:
3 sets of Maps (2 pages each), 3 Scavenger Lists, 3 sets of location Clues (10 each), 3
sets of 12 puzzle clue sheets, 3 sets of Einstein Clues, 3 Hunter Team Puzzle Answer
Sheets, 3 Hunter Team Location Answer Sheets, 3 Instruction Sheets. Also print the
Hunt Leader Answer Sheets in the other file for the end of the hunt.
Prepare the 3 Sets of Team Envelopes as follows:
1. Write the team names on the 3 sets, and number each envelope in each set 1
through to 10. You should now have 3 sets of team envelopes with team
names and 10 numbers now on them;
2. Envelope 1 for all teams should include a copy of the Maps, Scavenger List,
Hunter Team Answer Sheets (2 per team) and Instructions Sheet. Do not seal
this yet!
3. Envelope 10 should have Location Clue J placed in it for all teams.
4. The Puzzle Clue Sheets are in 4 sets (Puzzles 1 to 6 (3 pages), 7 to 12, 13 to
18 and 19 to 24). Place one set in envelope 2 for all teams, one in envelope 5
for all teams, one in envelope 7 for all teams and one in envelope 9 for all
teams.
5. Place the Einstein Clue in envelope 3 for all teams.
6. The Location Clues A through I must be placed as follows:
Envelope Number Team 1 Team 2 Team 3
1 A D H
2 B E I
3 C F A
4 D G B
5 E H C
6 F I D
7 G A E
8 H B F
9 I C G
And remember, J goes into all envelopes marked ‘10’ and this will ensure all
teams finish at the same location.
7. Check the contents and then seal the envelopes, placing a rubber band
around them

2. Read the introduction;
3. Hand out the envelopes, pens, cameras
4. Answer any questions;
5. Remind them this is a competitive game;

Paris Treasure Hunt - Introduction
• You are in 3 teams – you should think of a team name;
• The aim of this hunt is to have fun AND score more points than any other team.
• The hunt will last 3 hours from the time we leave this location.
• Each Team will receive 10 sealed envelopes. These are numbered 1 through 10,
and must be opened in order, and ONLY when instructed throughout the hunt.
DO NOT OPEN THEM ALL NOW!
• You have a number of challenges for which you can earn your team points as
follows:
o Within some envelopes are quizzes, riddles, general knowledge and other
mind boggling bits and pieces. You need to try to answer as many of
these as you can, writing your answer on the answer sheet given to you –
these will be scored at the end.
o Within each envelope is a clue to a location in the City of Barcelona, and
a goal you must try to attain at that location – and always involving
taking at least one photograph using the camera, which is also used as
proof at the end of the hunt of your visit, and will score points.
o In the first envelope you will also find a scavenger list – during the hunt,
you must try to obtain as many of these as possible without spending
any money.
• Each of these challenges brings points – and you know what points make!
• You MUST stay in your teams at all times.
• There is a time limit.
• You must be ready at the allotted time and allotted place (as per the final
location clue in envelope J) at the end of the hunt to prove what you have
achieved (2 completed answer sheets, photos on the camera and scavenger
items.)
• You will no doubt have the opportunity at a number of cafes/bars to enjoy a
very quick tipple if you so wish!
• Work as a team, prioritize, allocate roles and have fun!
• We’ll add up the scores when we reach the end!
