Using a website named survey monkey I have created a virtual questionnaire survey and e- mailed it to a variety of people.

The audience that have answered my questionnaire survey is mainly male based, but the amount of females that have answered the questionnaire will still give me an idea of what their ideal music video is.

Most of the people that have answered my questionnaire are mainly youth based as 29 people have answered 17-24 and 11 have chosen the other ages.

Instead of indie which is my music genre most people chose rock instead which leaves me with less ideas of what the indie audience wants.

We can see here that most people watch music videos weekly. There isn’t much difference in numbers for the people that has answered daily compared to weekly. Which possibly suggests that people learn about music they haven't heard before from music videos.

Most people like a music video to have a story, an equal amount of people chose performance and concept. This suggests that the narrative is what keeps the audience from watching a music video, they want to find out what happens throughout the video.

Looking specifically at the indie audience

I have filtered the results the only answer that come up are from the people that have

answered indie as their favourite genre.

Many of the indie audience are male and are aged 17-24 which suggests that indie music mostly appeals to the teenage audience.

We can see that indie music definitely appeals to a niche audience because 6 out of 38 people chose this genre

The indie audience that have answered my survey rarely watch music videos, which could suggest that they are only interested in the music rather than the video.

Many prefer narrative and a few chosen performance. Again this suggests that the audience wants a story to progress through the video.

After I’ve looked at these results I have decided on my target audience for my music video.

PychographicsLikes: likes skinny jeans, owns an iPod, watches YouTube, listens to Karrang radio, and likes indie music.

Dislikes: Baggy Clothing, mainstream music (hip-hop, pop etc), mainstream radio stations such as Capital FM.
