WHY DID I CONDUCT A QUESTIONNAIRE ?

The reason for me creating a questionnaire was to gather a understanding on what audiences enjoy watching, the

reason for this is because my audience are the people who are going to make my film successful through promotion on social media, buying tickets to watch it at the cinema and

also to buy the DVD’s when it comes out and even purchase merchandise.

I gave my questionnaire to 10 people of all different ages and genders to get a wide range of results to analyse.

My results here show that my largest target audience for the questionnaire consisted of 30% people aged under 18 and only 10% over 50.

Here shows that there were more males than females that took part in the questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 60% Males and 40% Females.

3. WHAT FILM GENRE’S DO YOU ENJOY WATCHING?

Its clear here to see that the horror genre was the most popular vote into which 50% of the audience prefer to watch. The least faviroute was Sci-Fi as no one voted for that type of genre.

The most popular vote here was every night, this suggests that most of the questions that were answered with every night could be younger audiences as they are more prone to watching movies at younger ages than older ages because they have less responsibilities such as work.

The most popular vote shown here was the film certificate ‘15’, the majority of my audience are under 18 but could mean that they are between the ages of 15-18. It would be interesting to conduct research into how many 12 year olds and younger are allowed to watch films above their age certificate.

The most popular vote here was sinister. This is a positive for me as the plot of sinister is based around camera’s which is something I hoped to achieve in my individual plot synopsis. The least popular vote however was Blair Witch which had no votes suggesting that because it’s a 2016 movie that is new out no one has been to the cinema’s to watch it yet.

The most popular vote here was a really old house suggesting that this is 50% of the people who took this questionnaire’s fear. This is something to take into consideration when choosing the setting for my short film and trailer.

8. WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN THE FOLLOWING HORROR GENRE PLOT?

A local man called Connor Bullock is a photographer but when editing his photos he notices that dark figures appear in the background, some of

the eyes of models are scratched out and their faces distorted. A picture will never be taken the same again…

This was a positive result that 70% of the audience who participated in the questionnaire liked my plot. Considering only 50% enjoyed watching Horror films that means that 20% liked the idea of the plot even though they did not enjoy the horror genre.

The most popular vote here was ‘say cheese’. I chose this title because it’s a phrase that someone would say when their about to take a picture. The least popular vote was shutter but I was relieved about this because after conducting research I realised that a film already existed with the same name.

The vote here showed that the majority of people watch film trailers before going to watch the film in the cinema. This explains that I have to make my film trailer engaging and interesting in order to make the audience members go and watch the film in the cinema.
