Appropriate questioning in an interactive classroom

(adapted from Christenbury & Kelly, 1983; Kinsella, 1991) .

Teacher questions…….

1. Give students the opportunity to produce language comfortably without having risk initiating language themselves.

2. Can serve to initiate the chain reaction of students interaction among themselves.

3. Give the instructor immediate feedback about students comprehension.

4. Provide students with opportunities to find out what they think by hearing what they say.

If the teacher uses those appropriate questioning in the classroom, hopefully there’d be an interactive

language learning.
