    The Graduate ManagementAdmission Test (GMAT) is designed tohelp business graduate schools assessthe qualifications and potential of theapplicants for advanced study inbusiness and management. You need totake GMAT if you are seeking admissionto graduate (post-Bachelors) schools ofmanagement mainly in the USA.

    A Bachelors degree is the minimum

    requirement for seeking admission inany Masters Program, like MBA, in USand therefore it is also the essentialqualification for taking GMAT. It isimportant to keep in mind that thosehaving a simple BA, B.Sc degree underthe Indian education system of 10+2+3(15 years) are ineligible for a Mastersprogram in US. You need to pursue aone-year postgraduate diploma or atwo-year post-graduate degree if you

    are interested in further studies inAmerica.However students holding BE,

    B.Tech, B.Sc (Agriculture) or B.Arch, i.e.students who have spent four years fortheir Bachelors degree, can directly seekadmission in Masters Program in anyUS University.

    The GMAT will include verbal,quantitative and analytical-writingquestions that you will answer on acomputer. You are assigned 75 minutes

    for 37 quantitative questions, 75 minutesfor 41 verbal questions and 30 minutesfor each of the two analytical-writingtopics. It is a 4 hour test with 30minutes assigned for the typingtutorial.

    Data Sufficiency and ProblemSolving questions are mingled withinthe quantitative section while SentenceCorrection, Reading Comprehensionand Critical Reasoning questions findtheir place in the verbal section.

    To prepare for the test it isadvisable to join a coaching centre

    or postal tuition course. You canalso prepare through self-study

    with help of books availablein the market.
