Q7 - HOW HAVE I DEVELOPED MY SKILLS FROM MY PRELIMINARY

TASK TO MY FULL PRODUCT?

My skills have vastly improved from the time of creating my preliminary task to the full product. When looking at my preliminary task, I have noticed that it is a lot less neat and precise than my final product. I noticed that when looking at the titles, both of them have the subject of the picture layered over them, however in my final product, due to practise and through being taught better methods of creating the effect, it looks a lot more polished, and the models hair in the final image does not look as though it has been drawn around as it does in my preliminary task.

One thing I noticed in particular about the difference in the two magazines is that my final product has a much more professional layout than the preliminary task does. Due to the extensive research I carried out into existing products I managed to get a better idea of how to lay may magazine out in such a way that would be neater and look more professional overall. There is a noticeable difference between the two products, as the actual product, on the left, is a lot more in line than the preliminary task, on the right. As well as this they are much more evenly spaced out than on the preliminary magazine, and looks as though they have a set format rather than just being wherever they would fit on the page.

Another noticeable difference when it comes to the layout of the magazine is the sell lines. The top one, which is from my finished magazine, is a lot more informative than on the preliminary task. This means that it is more likely to sell as it tells people about the artists in the magazine, which will peak interest from fans and therefore they will want to buy it to see what the article on the artist they are a fan of. Not only is it more informative though, it also looks much more professional and sleek than the preliminary task, as the preliminary is very basic in its style and does not look as though it would go on a magazine that is aimed at young adults, but more for children as it is very blocks and colourful.
