Question 6

Question 6Software Which I used Over the period of creating my magazine I used different software's to make sure that my magazine was perfect and didnt have any floors in the production, for my main magazine I used adobe InDesign within this programme I was able to create my magazine and this is how I would pile together all of my work for my front cover, double page spread and my contents page creating a series of drafts and in the end the final product. Another programme which was used quite a lot to be able to edit my images and my masthead was adobe Photoshop, within this programme I was able to use the photos from my photoshoot and edit them to make the photos outstanding and give them more of an edge Previously I had no experience with either of the software's so most of the time I would get things wrong or do things the longer way, however towards the end of the production I had a much better understanding of both softwares

Photoshop Within Photoshop there are many tools which can be used to edit photos to make them much more detailed as well as touching them up to fit the purpose for which you want the photo for. Mainly it was removing backgrounds which was one of the most common features that I used, firstly there are many tools which can do this operation however the quickest and most easiest method I found would have to be the magic erase tool, which is a little rubber on the left hand side of photo shop which once selected it could be changed in size to remove the unneeded background, the quick selection tool also did this job in a much faster way however I think that the magic eraser does a much neater job so in this instance I would use the quick selection tool to remove the background and if it had missed any background the magic eraser would have been able to get rid of any other unneeded background.

Layers were a huge part in photo shop, the layers where hard to get used to at first, but once you knew what you were doing it became much more simpler and easy to preform tasks of combing images together, and adding different elements for example on my contents page I have a black and white image and I created this by using the black and white layer in photo shop.

InDesign Because both InDesign and Photoshop were made by the same company adobe, it was easy to transfer knowledge from one software to the next, InDesign had some of the same features as Photoshop however there were not as many features to edit photos and that is why Photoshop was so curtail. Because InDesign was where I would produce my magazine I had to become more comfortable with it and after making my college magazine it became more apparent to me and I felt much more comfortable. InDesign was the perfect piece of software for creating and producing a magazine because it had all the features to make a good looking magazine, for example drop capitals are used in every magazine to make it look more professional and InDesign offered this function which I used within my main article I was able to use the glow tool to make sure that my images stood out more on the page.

Camera Within everyone of my photoshoots I used a Canon DSLR, this camera worked well for everything I wanted to capture from taking different photos in different lighting as well the features on the camera from the burst effect which is basically capturing a series of images in one shot, with this feature you were able to pick the best photo and then with the help of photo shop you were able to edit it to make the photograph outstanding, so for my front cover I wanted to take a depth of field shot, in order to make this shot I wanted a well lit room and a guitar, once the guitar was pointed it would focus in on the face of the model creating a depth of field shot.

Hardware Throughout the production process I used a computer to create my magazine and combine all my images and articles together to create the final product. To create my photographs I was lucky enough to have used a really good camera the Canon DSLR and a studio room to create the perfect lighting for my photo. Within the studio there were lights and a tripod this came in handy when taking photos of a group.
