Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?

Page 2: Question 4

Research Before we could decide on the audience for our film we

had to do some research into classifications and audience statistics for our genre of film.

In our research we found that:

A12 classification contains- moderate violent, use of weapons, dangerous behavior and may contain strong language but not frequently.

A 15 classification contains-strong violence, frequent strong language, drug taking and brief nudity

A 18 classification contains- very strong violence, frequent strong language, sexual violence, strong horror and strong blood and gore.

Research

We also researched into which gender is most likely to consume a horror film.

We found that 42% are men and 58% are women. This helped us decide on the gender of the audience which our film is aimed at.

Page 4: Question 4

Our film ClassificationWe came to the conclusion that our film should

be a 15 due to it containing Violence, Moderate swearing, brief nudity and a complex story line.

When choosing our classification we took in consideration the whole film rather than just the opening. This is because you are not allowed to have a change in classification between the opening and the whole film.

Therefore our audience would most likely be 15-24 year old due to our classification and research.

The gender our film is aimed atWe decided that the gender that our film is

aimed at mainly women due to research showing that more women watch horror films than men.

We have achieved this by using a young female main character so that the implied audience will be able to relate to her.
