What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Future PLCMagazines that Future PLC publishes:

Future PLC publishes a wide range of magazines from Simply Knitting to Fast Bikes; but music magazines, that I was specifically interested in, they produce: Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, Future Music, Total Guitar, Rhythm, Guitarist.Future PLC may not distribute my magazine as they tend to be more of a niche market as opposed to mainstream. However this would then mean that they would have a place in the market for a mainstream magazine, like M Magazine, which would then possibly mean they would be the kind of media institution to distribute my magazine.

IPC MediaMagazines that IPC Media publishes:

IPC Media has many magazines http://www.mediauk.com/owners/40/ipc-media, the two main music magazines IPC media publish are; NME and Uncut. IPC Media are a mass audience company which is why my magazine would fit in with them and an institution like theirs would suit my magazine. I think that there would be a gap in the market for M Magazine as although NME, especially, is a very popular magazine my media product would be suited as it’s not identical to NME there are major differences and IPC Media are obviously very successful and producing mass audience products.

Bauer MediaMagazines that Bauer Media publishes:

Bauer Media titles amounts to 38 million magazines a week, so they are evidently a very successful institution. The music magazines they publish are: Q Magazine, Kerrang!, MOJO. All of these are quite mass marketed magazines, which would work well for my magazine; M Magazine the main problem with Bauer Media distributing my magazine would be that it is too similar to Q so there may not be a gap in the market suitable for my magaizne.

EMAPMagazines that EMAP publishes:

EMAP, is another well respected media institution. They’re music magazines are mainly aimed at younger teenagers, they had the huge magazine of; Smash Hits which was then rivalled by Top of the Pops (BBC Media) I do think that there would be an area in the market for my magazine, but whether or not they would be the right institution for my magazine as they don’t have much experience in distributing a music magazine for an older teen audience.
