In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Throughout my Media Project’s Research and Planning stage, I’ve been looking at various different rom/com film trailers. I’ve mainly looked at various recent trailers, which have more up to date ways of making a good rom/com trailer. Also because it will attract more to the current audience of nowadays.

I will be sharing different scenes of different trailers that gave me inspiration to create my own trailer.

In this scene, it was inspired by a film trailer that was released in 2014, ‘Endless Love’. It shows a couple that meet at night, and share a special moment, as they’re holding hands. Obviously the

gate/fence wasn’t used as we wanted to make them stand in front of each other, to show that they can be together, with the dark contrasting that.

From the film trailer ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ gave us the inspiration to create this scene with a conversation between the two characters, having some kind of date. But we chose to have a 2-person shot instead of an over the shoulder shot because we wanted to be able to show both of them at the same time, so the audience could be able to see both of the main characters at the

beginning of the trailer so they know who they’re meant to be looking out for when they actually go to watch the movie.

Now from the same film trailer, it also gave us another inspiration of creating a kiss scene. Most rom/com trailers have kiss scenes, as it’s only natural, considering it is a Romance genre. This is

to show that the couple are happy, or were happy at that point of time.
