Quest Taekwondo Penistone Receive a Special Visitor

Earlier this month, Quest Taekwondo welcomed a very special guest visitor to Penistone.

On Saturday the 12th of April 2014, MP Angela Smith celebrated the great achievement of her local Taekwondo club by dropping by to meet and learn more about them.

Quest Penistone is a branch of five Quest clubs located across Yorkshire and Merseyside.

Penistone Grammar School provides the excellent venue for Quest, achievers of Sport England’s Clubmark award. The club is recognised for its exceptional initiatives and training as well as its fantastic community connections.

Lead Coach Master Mike McKenzie, who secured Coach of the Year title in 2013, along with his team welcomed Angela to the venue.

The day provided a brilliant chance to outline how he and his team inspire their some 100 members to meet their very best potential.

Having had a central role in the organisation of Taekwondo in the 2012 Olympic Games, Mike realises how important it is to use this experience to feed the Olympic sporting legacy into his club’s training.

Quest runs various initiatives such as Sportivate, and most recently KickSister, as the club continues to accommodate for the extensive tapestry of members’ needs and targets.

The club also encourages opportunities to work up close with Britain’s International Athletes, and their excellent coaches, as they support and nurture competitive talent.

Angela had the chance to see how the club train, and experience some of the great benefits of our fantastic sport and art form up-close.

Angela was able to interact with Quest members, ranging from ages 4-60, as she shared their art and commended the success of her local club.

We would like to congratulate Quest for this very special recognition, and commend them ourselves for both representing our art and sport so well, and sharing it so positively with others. Great work.
