Queer People of Color Collective of the Triad

Queer People of Color Collective connects LGBTQIA folks of color in the Triad area of North Carolina

Mission/Vision: We are committed to intergenerational community building and promoting conversations across the intersections of race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation and gender identity. We focus on the following: -sharing our personal narratives and experiences -disseminating information regarding issues effecting queer communities of color -leadership building -learning our collective histories -exchanging of resources -uplifting and sharing our creative talents singing, dancing, laughing and playing. We believe in the power of collectivity and focus on the aforementioned so that we may transform ourselves, thereby transforming our communities and our world.

About Us

QPOCC is the only community ran organization in this area that specifically supports LGBTQ people of color. There impact is large because it meets this specific need. They have successfully provided educational and social events such as storytelling events and movie screenings.

QPOCC has acted as a connection for LGBTIA people of color that live in the triangle to those who live in the triad, often partnering with organizers from various places in NC. QPOCC opens up most events to the population at large, and some events are created for just people who identify as LGBTQ and people of color in order to create safe spaces. QPOCC has been devoted to building relationships, partnering with other LGBTQ organizations, and making LGBTQ POC needs and communities visible throughout NC.

Queerly Beloved: Greensboro’s LGBTQIA Literature Circle

Queerly Beloved focuses on literature written for, by, or about LGBTQIA People of Color. The book club is primarily housed at Elsewhere Museum in downtown Greensboro. The book club welcomes everyone on a

monthly basis every fourth Thursday. Queerly beloved members gain FREE membership to Elsewhere Museum and Living Library. Come and enjoy dinner with the folks of Elsewhere before the meeting, $5/plate and RSVP

required (for dinner).

Sistah Sinema at Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema

QPOCC is a part of a movie movement, a national network of Sistah Sinema!!

Sistah Sinema is the official home of queer women of color cinema. You can access movies at our monthly events in cities across the country, or stream instantly online. Access content from www.sistahsinema.com/

Sistah Sinema is a monthly event showcasing Queer Women of Color Cinema. Each showing will be followed by a moderated discussion section. Sistah Sinema was created to showcase the nuances of Queer Women of Color culture. It is hoped that the movies will serve as a vehicle to foster honest dialogue on struggles and opportunities unique to Queer Women of Color.
