Chartifacts: #1: Queens Of The Stone Age ‘…Like Clockwork’ (debut) - This is now the fourth visit to the Australian top 10 for this American band since they first reached such heights in 2002 (with ‘Songs For The Deaf’ - #7), but this is the first time that they've managed to hit the peak. The band's previous best was #2 for their album ‘Lullabies To Paralyze’ early in 2005. Most recently they reached #4 with ‘Era Vulgaris’ in Winter 2007.

#3: Original Soundtrack ‘The Great Gatsby’ – The arrival of the Queens Of The Stone Age album this week has created an unusual event for the Great Gatsby Soundtrack… Despite a 72% increase in sales over last week, the album actually suffers the loss of one position on the chart

#4: City And Colour ‘The Hurry And The Harm’ (debut) - Canada's City And Colour (aka Dallas Green) hit #2 last time he was on the charts here in Australia with ‘Little Hell’ (June 2011). Prior to that, his only other Albums chart entry here was with his second album ‘Bring Me Your Love’ which peaked at #31 in Feb 2008.

#5: Disclosure ‘Settle’ (debut) - This is the debut Australian chart entry for British electronic siblings Guy & Howard Lawrence. The brothers are still quite young, with Guy having just turned 22 and Howard, 19.

#6: John Fogerty ‘Wrote A Song For Everyone’ (debut) – 2013 has been quite a year for significant veteran comebacks - Rodriguez, Russell Morris, Renee Geyer, Agnetha Faltskog and Eric Clapton, all with new albums if not new material. Now we can add one more to the list as the former Creedence Clearwater Revival front man reaches the top 10 for the first time since he hit #8 with ‘Blue Moon Swamp’ in July 1997.

#10: Ricky Martin ‘Greatest Hits’ – After two weeks at #16 and #18, this album powers back for its sixth week in the top 10.

#14: Sleeping With Sirens ‘Feel’ (debut) – This Florida (USA) based rock band have released three albums since debuting in 2010, but this is their first to chart here in Australia.

#19: Baby Animals ‘This Is Not The End’ (debut) – Baby Animals had a dramatic introduction to the charts in 1991 when their eponymous first album made its chart debut at #6 and then spent six straight weeks at #1 a few months later in early 1992. Their follow-up ‘Shaved And Dangerous’ also did well, debuting at #2 in 1993, but since then, aside from a very minor hit with ‘Il Grande Silenzio’ (#78) in 2008, they have been absent from the charts. This, like John Fogerty above, is therefore a very welcome return to form for the band.

#29: Olly Murs ‘Right Place Right Time’ – with his single ‘Dear Darlin’’ taking off, this album enjoys an improvement of 11 places.

Further top 40 album debuts:

#28: Megadeth ‘Super Collider’
