As we face the annual cold and flu season, complicated by concerns over the novel coronavirus, it is important that we all understand and promote healthy practices in our parish. It is important to remind everyone that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass does not apply to those who are ill, especially those who suffer from contagious disease. It is a sign of consideration for others that those with flu-like symptoms remain at home, perhaps watching a Mass on television, or reading the appointed Sunday scripture, and offering their illness for a spiritual intention. This applies equally to extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, lectors, musicians, altar servers, ushers, etc., who experience any symptoms.
We will suspend offering the precious blood offered in the cup as well as the joining of hands during the Our Father and the handshake at the sign of peace until further notice.
What you can do to Stay Healthy
• Know the facts. Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
• Take everyday actions to stay healthy. • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or into your
sleeve if you do not have a tissue available. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. Do not cough or sneeze into your hands.
• Wash your hands thoroughly and often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread that way. • Stay home if you get sick. CDC recommends that you stay home from work or
school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. • Get vaccinated. Vaccination is the best protection we have against the flu. • Source to stay informed: Centers for Disease Control (https://www.cdc.gov)
Lenten Information …..PRAY….. FAST…... GIVE…… Will You Be a Prayer Companion? We have star ted a new ministry this lent to offer a walk-thru prayer line before and after school for the students going to high school. Please call Nancy at 925-685-8707 if you would like to help.
No Greater Love—A Biblical Walk Through Christ’s Passion For a deeper involvement in your Lenten experience, come and join us on Monday mornings starting on February 24 for a five week journey with Christ as we walk step-by-step with Jesus from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Mount of Calvary. We will come away with a deeper understanding of the unconditional love of God as we grow ever more near to him. We will meet at the Parish Center on Monday mornings @ 9:30AM. Join us for coffee, friendship and prayer!
Soup Supper every Wednesday through April 1 from 6-7pm in the hall. Br ing your own bowl and spoon and join us for a simple (fasting) meal of soup and bread. Please call Nancy at 925-685-8707 if you would like to prepare a soup. All donations will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry. Communal Reconciliation—Wednesday, April 1 @ 7:30PM Lent is a wonder ful times to celebrate the reconciling love and the healing graces our Lord offers us. Like all religious experiences, it takes preparation. Reconciliation is what God does. Receiving it and celebrating it is what we do. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a most natural way to celebrate His forgiveness and love. The Sacrament of Reconciliation helps us to grow closer to God.
Congratulations to our 8 RCIA catechumens and candidates who celebrated the Rite of Election and Rite of Welcoming with Bishop Barber on March 1st. Catechumens: Isiah Morales, Javier Renderos ( preparing -baptism, confirmation, communion) Candidates: Phillip Fulks, Boris Hope, Mona Martinez, Joanna, Lopez, Saray Loyola, Sandra Orsi (preparing for confirmation and communion)
Please keep them in your prayers as we journey through lent.

As you know, this summer we signed up for a new way to communicate with all of our pa-rishioners! It is called Flocknote. This ssystem allows us to either email or text you as a whole or as part of a ministry group! We will be using Flocknote to communicate
reflections, ideas, etc. throughout Lent!
We would love all of our parishioners to be a part of Flocknote! Please sign up! Go to our website under the News tab, then go to E-Newsletter. Here you will find a link to join. This can be a very powerful tool for us to use together—please sign up at your earliest convenience so we can begin keeping in touch with you!
