Queen Elizabeth I. Elizabeth was born on 7 September 1533. Her mother was Anne Boleyn, Henry VIIIs second wife. She had a half-sister, Mary, and a half-brother, Edward. Queen of the Golden Age She never married, so she was the last Tudor monarch, because of that she is also called the Virgin Queen. The state of Virginia in America is named after her. Good Queen Bess In 1588 the King of Spain, Philip I, sent a fleet of ships called the Armada to invade England, but they were defeated. Elizabeth gave a famous speech to encourage her troops . Big Battle Elizabeth I wore thick white makeup to cover up scars on her face leftover from when she had smallpox. Smallpox was a very serious disease in Tudor times During her reign lots of English explorers searched for new lands and treasures. The most known English writer, William Shakespeare lived and wrote his famous works in her time The Elizabethan Era Elizabeth could speak six languages! Her mother was Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII’s second wife.

She had a half-sister, Mary, and a half-brother, Edward.
