< Password expiration time: login/password_expiration_time This is the length of time before the u ser mu st change their passwor d.
The length of time th at au ditors recommend is thirty (30) days. The maximum that shou ld be u sed is ninety (90) days.
< Password lockout: login/fails_to_user_lock This par ameter locks out u sers after attemp ting to log in with an invalid p assword for adefined nu mber of times.

The lock/ un lock function is part of the logon check, which allows or p revents the u ser fromlogging onto the R/ 3 System. For terminated users, the users ID shou ld be locked an d th euser assigned to the user grou p term .
:K\
< Locking a userIf an emp loyee leaves the comp any, is assigned to a d ifferent group , or is on leave, theirR/ 3 access should be removed . With the lock function, the users ID and secur ity profileremain on the system but th e user cannot log on. This function is ideal for temporar ypersonn el or consultants w here, unless the access is required , the user ID rem ainslocked.
< Unlocking a userIf users incorrectly log on m ore that th e allowed nu mber of times, they are au tomaticallylocked ou t of the system. (An incorrect logon is usu ally the result of a forgottenpassw ord.) The ad ministrator mu st unlock the user ID and more than likely reset theusers password.
