PARCC Prototype Assessment Questions

Where we need to be one year from today!

Primary students will be required to drag and drop answers using a computer or tablet.

Third grade students will be required to support multiple choice answers with textual evidence.

Reading and writing will be integrated. Students will be required to write about what they read.

Sixth grade students will be required to justify even multiple choice answers.

Seventh grade students will be required to deal with three texts simultaneously.

High school students are required to deal with multiple texts simultaneously.

Students are required to develop text dependent essays analyzing and comparing two or more complex texts.

Currently, there is nothing on the market, at any price, that will prepare students for the cognitive demands of the PARCC Assessment. We will have to continue to create our own curriculum tools and our own assessments based on the information we receive from PARCC and the PED to meet the unique needs of our students. PARCC and virtually all professional development companies are encouraging less dependence on textbooks.
