Job Description

SUMMARY Assists with developing, implementing, and coordinating the product assurance program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Promotes and executes quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports.

Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.

Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process and tests products for variety of

qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.

Creates quality plans for new parts based on engineering drawings and specifications.

Assists in process certification.

Oversees gage calibration process and determines gaging needs for new projects.

Complies, writes, and delivers training material on quality standards and activities.

Coaches and mentors employees in quality assurance principles and methodology

Selects and uses metrology equipment, including CMM’s.

Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.

Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

Prepares customer required quality documentation.

Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure

performance, life, or material characteristics.

Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.

Completes special and continuous improvement projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five to ten years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of quality system requirements and of ISO 9000 requirements. Experience using basic computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
