ABN

1. From the Home Page, if you have access to multiple ABNs registered with QSL Direct, you can review these and select the desired ABN by clicking on your ABN in the top menu bar. If you only have access to one ABN, this will appear here without a drop-down arrow beside it.

KEY ELEMENTS1. The Tonnage Declaration Page displays summary GEI tonnage information, pool and pricing nominations, and order

information for the ABN and Season displayed in the top menu bar. You can change these at any time by clicking on these and making a new selection in their associated drop-down lists.

Key elements of the Tonnage Declaration Page are:

2. More Information Symbol: Clicking on this ‘i’ symbol when it’s found beside a term used anywhere within QSL Direct will open a small pop-up window with additional information about that term.

3. Estimated GEI Sugar (Tonnes Actual): This is the Sugar Tonnes Actual nominated to QSL. The Tonnes IPS generated by your Nominated Cane Tonnes and Average CCS are converted to Tonnes Actual by dividing by an IPS conversion factor of 1.03675.

4. Mandatory Harvest Pool: At least 35% of your Estimated Tonnes are automatically allocated to the QSL Harvest Pool. For future seasons this Mandatory Harvest Pool amount is also used to reflect the applicable Commitment Limits, restricting how much you can use towards Grower-Managed pricing in future seasons. For further information regarding Commitments Limits, please refer to the QSL Common Pool Terms at www.qsl.com.au

5. Mandatory US Quota: QSL automatically allocates up to 5% of your Estimated GEI Sugar Tonnes to the US Quota Pool, traditionally the highest-paying pool due to the quota system in place for access to the US market.

6. Available Tonnes: This is the Total Sugar Tonnes Actual available to be allocated to QSL-Managed Pools or Grower-Managed Pricing Products at your discretion.

MARKETING NOMINATIONSHow do I nominate QSL as my GEI Sugar Marketer for some or all of my GEI Sugar?

GEI Sugar Marketing nominations for each season close on 31 October in the year before crushing starts. See below for details of how to submit your marketing nomination:

Far Northern Milling (FNM), Bundaberg Sugar and Isis Central Sugar Mill growers access QSL marketing under their miller’s supply agreements with QSL and so do not need to nominate QSL as their marketer.

Mackay Sugar growers need to nominate QSL as their GEI Sugar Marketer via the GEI Sugar Marketer Nomination Form available from QSL or your miller.

MSF Sugar growers are required to nominate via the Pool Manager Nomination Form within your Grower Pricing Agreement with your miller.

Tully Sugar growers are required to nominate via the Sugar Marketing Entity Nomination form available from your miller.

Wilmar growers are required to nominate via your Cane Supply Agreement (CSA).

For more information, please contact your local QSL Representative.

You need to have a Grower Pricing Agreement (GPA) in place with QSL before you can begin making pool nominations and place pricing orders.

When do I need to nominate QSL as my GEI Sugar Marketer?

You must finalise your GEI Sugar Marketer nomination for each season by 31 October in the year before crushing starts. Please note that your QSL pricing allocations do not need to be finalised until the Pricing Declaration Date on 30 April each year.

What happens if I don’t make a nomination?

If you don’t make a marketing nomination, your Miller could be your default marketer. For this reason, if you would like to use any QSL pricing or marketing services, including the Harvest Pool, we urge you to nominate us as a GEI Sugar Marketer by the Marketing Declaration Date (This does not apply to FNM, Bundaberg Sugar or Isis Mill suppliers). Visit our website (www.qsl.com.au) or contact your local QSL Grower Service Team member for details of the nomination process and associated deadlines.

Can I change my marketing nomination?

You can change your marketing nomination up until the Marketing Declaration Date of 31 October in the year before crushing commences, provided you have not priced tonnage with QSL. If you have nominated and priced tonnage you cannot change your marketing nomination for that tonnage. Please see your local QSL representative for more information.

POOLS AND PRICING NOMINATIONSWhich pools does QSL offer?

QSL offers the following pools to growers, however some Mills may restrict their availability:

Grower-Managed

• QSL Target Price Contract

• QSL Individual Futures Contract

• Self-Managed Harvest

QSL-Managed

• QSL Actively Managed Pool

• QSL Early-Start Actively Managed Pool

• QSL Guaranteed Floor Pool

• QSL 2-Season Actively Managed Pool

• QSL 3-Season Actively Managed Pool

• QSL Harvest Pool

• QSL US Quota Pool

These pools have a range of risk profiles and different constraints so it is important that you understand these before nominating tonnage to any QSL pool or pricing product and that you read the Pricing Pool Terms available at www.qsl.com.au.

Do I have to participate in the Harvest Pool?

Yes. The Harvest Pool is used to help manage production risk and at least 35% of your GEI Sugar nomination to QSL must be in the Harvest Pool. You can allocate more than 35% to the Harvest Pool if you wish.

How does the Harvest Pool work?

A portion of the Harvest Pool’s tonnage is allocated as a Production Buffer which is not sold or priced until it is physically received by QSL (or is almost certain to be physically received). This and the variable nature of the pool’s tonnage can lead to greater price volatility than that experienced in QSL’s committed-tonnage pools. Further information regarding the Harvest Pool is included in its Pricing Pool Terms, which you can read at www.qsl.com.au.

Do I have to put tonnage in the US Quota?

Yes. The US raw sugar market is usually the highest paying due to its quota system, which limits international access. QSL requires you to allocate a set amount of sugar production to the US Quota (up to 5%) as the actual tonnage allocated to QSL is advised by the Australian Government after the start of the season. Any difference between the amount set aside by you and the actual amount allocated to QSL is absorbed by the Harvest Pool. Further information is contained in the Pricing Pool Terms, which can be accessed on the QSL website at www.qsl.com.au.

Can I put more tonnage in the US Quota?

Not directly. If there is an increase in the actual allocation in comparison to the forecast an adjustment will be made by QSL to your Harvest Pool tonnage to provide for the additional US Quota.

Accelerated Advances – How does this work? How do I select this option?

Accelerated Advances means you can expect to receive 90% of the pool value by the end of the crush for the relevant Season. You can elect to opt in to the Accelerated Advances for eligible pools (Target Price Contract, QSL Guaranteed Floor Pool and Individual Futures Contract). You make this election in the QSL Direct portal and this applies to any eligible pools if you select this. Any additional costs associated with delivering Accelerated Advances (i.e. increased interest charges) are incorporated into your returns from the applicable pools.

What QSL-managed pools can I nominate for future seasons?

QSL offers two future season QSL-managed pools – the QSL 2-Season Actively Managed Pool and 3-Season Actively Managed Pool. Nominations for these must be made by the Pricing Declaration Date on 30 April each year.

What is the Shared Pool? How do I nominate for the Shared Pool?

At the end of the Season all QSL pricing pools receive an allocation of revenues and costs associated with the sales and marketing of sugar. This allocation is known as the Shared Pool. You don’t nominate to participate in the Shared Pool – a Shared Pool allocation is applied to every tonne you market with QSL.

What is 1:2:2:1?

All Committed Sugar Pools, including Grower-Managed Pricing Products, are priced in a ratio of 1:2:2:1 respectively against the July, October, March and May Futures positions.

For example, a 30-tonne order for the Target Price Contract would be priced:

• July: 5 tonnes

• October: 10 tonnes

• March: 10 tonnes

• May: 5 tonnes

The US Quota Pool is the only exception to this pricing ratio, due to the nature of sales made to the US.

ORDERSWhat level should I place my order at?

QSL cannot provide you with pricing, financial or investment advice. However, we do provide extensive market data and analysis on our website which is available for you to read and form your own market view. Ultimately the decision of what level to place orders at is yours. With this in mind, it is recommended that you invest sufficient time in digesting all available market information so you can place an order that is appropriate for you and your business. If you are uncomfortable placing your own orders you should consider nominating your tonnage to a QSL-managed pool where we will make these decisions on your behalf.

What is the difference between the Individual Futures Contract (IFC) and the Target Price Contract (TPC)?

Both products provide growers with access to forward pricing of sugar for future seasons. The main difference between them relates to the number of pricing decisions required throughout the year and minimum tonnage requirements. The IFC allows growers to price their GEI Sugar incrementally, with separate pricing decisions for each of the 4 individual futures contracts. Minimum tonnage is 60 tonnes for nominations and 10 tonnes for orders (higher in MSF and Tully Sugar Milling regions). The TPC does not require separate pricing decisions for each futures contract as it allows growers to ‘roll’ unfilled orders. Minimum tonnage is 10 tonnes for nominations and orders. You should seek independent financial advice before making any pricing decisions.

How do I place an order at current market levels?

If you’re looking to place an order which you would like filled at approximately the indicative pricing levels you see on the home page of the QSL Direct portal today you will need to place an order below that indicative level in the pool appropriate to the tonnage you would like to commit. This doesn’t mean that you will be filled below market at the level you specified, but gives QSL and the bank the necessary flexibility to fill your order at the best price possible upon market open. For example, the indicative price may be $575, you place your order at $570, then market opens at $574 and that is the price you will get filled at.

My order was at $580 and market closed at $585, why didn’t I get the higher price?

When a grower pricing order is placed above current market levels, QSL and the bank will endeavour to fill that order as and when the target price level is reached. So in this instance the market went through the target price level of $580 and was filled as directed. Grower-managed pricing is exactly that and neither QSL nor the bank has the remit to take a decision not to fill at the level instructed and hold out for a better price. The inherent risk in doing so is that the order may not get filled at all if the price falls away again.

Can I manage my own pricing decisions during the current season?

Yes. The Individual Futures Contract, Target Price Contract and Self-Managed Harvest Pool are Grower-Managed options that allow you to make current season pricing decisions. Please read the Pricing Pool Terms and Conditions available at www.qsl.com.au for further information.

Why can’t I create a pricing order even though I can view my account in the portal?

It could be due to access restrictions. Only one user per tax entity (ABN) has the authority to create a pricing order, but there may be several users (for example, a spouse, child/parent, sibling, accountant, etc) who are authorised to view the account. If you can’t create a pricing order, it may be that you are set up as an Authorised Viewer to the account, rather than the Pricing Manager. Your access level is displayed on your QSL Direct home page.
